Always wanted one, but could only afford an NSU PrinzNSU Ro 80. Very advanced, but flawed. West German NSU launched the Wankel rotary-engined Ro 80 in 1967. Their revolutionary sedan won the European Car of the Year award in 1968, but also left NSU bankrupt by 1969. Almost half a century later, driving it is a unique and surprisingly pleasant experience.View attachment 122974
Of all these pictures of these beautiful cars, I keep coming back to this one.
Always wanted an NSU Prinz...Always wanted one, but could only afford an NSU Prinz
Which was the Best always the Golf for myself ?Can’t believe these hot hatches are 40 years old now…40 years, makes me feel old. Happy days!
Had them both for a few weeks whist changing from one to the other.

It would have to be the Astra for me, always loved those sharp lines over the Mk2 Golfs softer curves. The Astra GTE is much rarer these days tooWhich was the Best always the Golf for myself ?
It was a close call, it’s subjective but I think the Astra was better looking, you sat lower in it too, which gave a more sporty feel. The golf was better developed though generally, quality wise. Though neither ever broke down. Performance very similar but the golf had better brakes as the Astra still had drums on the rear.Which was the Best always the Golf for myself ?
Common upgrade on Astra GTEs was to put the Cavalier rear axle in complete with rear discsIt was a close call, it’s subjective but I think the Astra was better looking, you sat lower in it too, which gave a more sporty feel. Second major change I did on my MK1 Golf GTi Rally car was disc brake the rear end after the Weber DCOE carburettors went on over 35 years ago now.Common upgrade on Astra GTEs was to put the Cavalier rear axle in complete with rear discs
Always wanted a 105 or 130TC version of these, still on Carbs when everyone else had moved to injection
Always wanted the 130TC version of the Ritmo (Strada here). Those BBS split rims suit it too.
The visibility out of that is almost like a convertible. Thin pillars, clear glass, great. Now this was when BMW made really Good Cars.View attachment 122996
