Adam Im not saying you didn't pay those prices for that work , but i will add that all that work fitting clutch/release bearing/spiggot bearing/F1 sensor can be done at various places for very close to if not £600 labour ,all those parts can generally be found for around £1250 , so that will bring the total well below £2K in my book
regards loz
Hi Loz,well i guess that depends on where your based ? I have had quotes from Meridian, carrs, emblem who are all within a reasonable travelling distance and they are all about the same.
Main dealers will charge £1880 approx for the clutch and labour and odds and sods.
i have 3 quotes sitting in my inbox and none would leave very much change from £3k if all needed to be done. I went with the most expensive quote as i felt i may get a better service.
I also spoke to another well known indy (no Names) who insists that all the parts are replaced whether needed or not and that is stated on the website. They also state that the clutch has to be balanced using the correct software but i dont know about that.
As i say maybe your skills and/or location would let you get it done for that price in an ideal world, but remember that some people have limited options due to location and there is no point in driving a V8 that does 16mpg on a 1000 mile journey to get work done as this not only costs a fair bit but would add another 1000 miles to the milometer lol.
I truly wish i could get work done for a lot less but try as i might i cannot find anyone who inspires enough confidence to allow to touch a maserati.
Anyway i digress...Is £16k for a 2003 52,000 miler with "service history" a good deal? I dont know.
warm regards Adam
