Looking for a 4200 or GS

Right, got a question for you lot on the 81k/£13k 4200.

It was serviced at dealers and then Autoficcina almost every 12 months but the last service was in 2013. It's been garaged and hasn't really done any miles since. I'm OK with this. BUT in the middle of it's life it had an 18 month period where it appears to have done 30,000 miles between services.

Cars at this price aren't going to be perfect. And at this price it gives me the option of having another similarly priced car, perhaps something for the track. Just wonder what people think about that big interval? Is it really any worse that sitting idle?

It seems like Autoficcina actually had he car up for sale prior to it's recent time off the road (Andy actually posted a link here in 2012). My gut tells me that one blemish on an otherwise decent record isn't the end of the world... and if it's an absolute turd, Autoficcina, who seem to be pretty well-respected, wouldn't have been selling it after maintaining it for a few years, would they? (I'll be giving them a call this morning to see if they remember it.)

I had a similar issue with the service on my car, it was from a trusted dealer and had been serviced by Mas dealers but had no confirmed records of first few services and one recent service was missed. I put a deposit down and had the car checked over, I was given a very clean report.

I then found this site and with their help I found out the car was owned by Maserati / supermodel (thanks MAF) and the GS did have the 1st 3 services, The missing service the car had only done about 1,000 miles if I remember - its one of the best cars I have owned

However following on from Phil's comments - you need to be prepared for any fallout, like any car its a gamble. if its the right car and you want it then have it checked and if OK then decide. Like most my heart ruled - I just knew this was my car :)

I did get fallout - for me my gearbox failed and needed a replacement which it now has an almost new gearbox (at ~10k miles ago) with a new clutch that reads about 1-2%

The good thing is you came here first and asked - good luck and whatever car you get - have it checked !

Ok, so after a brief, unsuccessful but educational foray into the lower end of the 4200 market, I've decided that a budget car is not what I want. I want a tip top GS or facelift 4200! I'll be getting in touch with Mr Grace next week. But if anyone decides that they want to offload their black or white (need to learn those Maserati colour names) car with Bordeaux interior or blue with black (on reflection, I think Andy might be right about blue with red), please do get in touch. 40-60k miles is the mileage sweet spot for me, but I'll look at anything.

I will be amazed if you can find a Blue car with red interior.

If you have read the the MCV thread you will have read that Dickie is taking Robins Grigio (Grey) GS with Beige/ Tan interior in

Enzo has a lovely Black/Black GS with celebrity heritage up for sale at the moment. That might be worth a look.

Sorry; I didn't see Enzos post! Doh!

I know. Sometimes it's best not to reply to the last post without catching up on the thread!

Sorry, I hit the edit button instead of the reply button. Best I call it quits for the evening.

Wait... Enzo's car had a celebrity owner? You'd think he'd mention that every time he referred of the car. I'm sure people would want to know... :)

Sorry to read the silver car was not up to scratch. There is one out there with your name on it.

May be useful, if you are prepared to, to share the facts of the items that made the car unacceptable.

I'm seriously considering LHD next time as I can see it predominantly used for European road trips, LHD is not too much of a hindrance here, plus it opens up a much wider choice of cars.

Is this one any good for you. I've not seen it before so it may be new on the market :-

I said it twice, previously owned by supermodel :)
she was also a race drive and is a car nut like us all.... our own Maserati Jodie Kidd. To find out I owned her car was a bonus for me and part reason why I keep changing my mind. main reason is it looks fantastic and every time I drive her the grin returns :)

Almost...but the two-tone interior doesn't look quite right to me. All black and that might be the one. If I stretched over 30k for a lower mileage car it would have to be the perfect spec. Anyone ever actually seen a black one with a Bordeaux interior? Don't want to be chasing a unicorn...

Nope, Richard Grace had a F/L silver with red for a while, can't say I have seen a black!
Andy K will no doubt be able to advise better!

I'm pretty sure there was a black one with a black interior but with Bordeaux leather inserts where the blue leather inserts are on that one. I think it had a Bordeaux dash insert as well. That was about August time last year though.

I posted about a LHD Gransport Spyder black with bordeaux. I tried to enquired about it but didn't receive a reply. I'm sure there will be one out there for you, though may take a while.
