Right, got a question for you lot on the 81k/£13k 4200.
It was serviced at dealers and then Autoficcina almost every 12 months but the last service was in 2013. It's been garaged and hasn't really done any miles since. I'm OK with this. BUT in the middle of it's life it had an 18 month period where it appears to have done 30,000 miles between services.
Cars at this price aren't going to be perfect. And at this price it gives me the option of having another similarly priced car, perhaps something for the track. Just wonder what people think about that big interval? Is it really any worse that sitting idle?
It seems like Autoficcina actually had he car up for sale prior to it's recent time off the road (Andy actually posted a link here in 2012). My gut tells me that one blemish on an otherwise decent record isn't the end of the world... and if it's an absolute turd, Autoficcina, who seem to be pretty well-respected, wouldn't have been selling it after maintaining it for a few years, would they? (I'll be giving them a call this morning to see if they remember it.)
I had a similar issue with the service on my car, it was from a trusted dealer and had been serviced by Mas dealers but had no confirmed records of first few services and one recent service was missed. I put a deposit down and had the car checked over, I was given a very clean report.
I then found this site and with their help I found out the car was owned by Maserati / supermodel (thanks MAF) and the GS did have the 1st 3 services, The missing service the car had only done about 1,000 miles if I remember - its one of the best cars I have owned
However following on from Phil's comments - you need to be prepared for any fallout, like any car its a gamble. if its the right car and you want it then have it checked and if OK then decide. Like most my heart ruled - I just knew this was my car
I did get fallout - for me my gearbox failed and needed a replacement which it now has an almost new gearbox (at ~10k miles ago) with a new clutch that reads about 1-2%
The good thing is you came here first and asked - good luck and whatever car you get - have it checked !
