It'll be a real pain lifting them in and out when they are maybe a year old. Easy with a 4 door, but very awkward with a 2 door. And how is a twin seating buggy going to fit in the boot (as well all the other clobber)? As lovely as the GTS is, it really isn't a practical proposition when you have twin babies - it's a car for when they get to maybe about 3 or 4 years old and can get themselves in/out.

If you fancy a Maser, try a late QP V GTS which has the same 4.7 engine, same sound, same chassis, same performance - but more useable space. Ask Dicky Grace to find one for you.

Appreciate the advice, but I am set on the GTS as long as the seats physically fit, which it sounds like they will. The twin buggy we are looking at folds tiny, and the car seats attach to the chassis. The was a type of buggy which easily fitted in the boot of an Evora 400 with room to spare, so having 2 of those as well is an options; or two of the Babyzen yoyos mentioned below. For journeys where we loads loads of kit we have another car with more space. Here is the folded twin pram: icandypeach_249_1301792543.jpg

At the risk of this becoming a buggy discussion rather than a Maserati discussion, this video shows you how small the buggy goes. It also has a fairly hot lady who leans over a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaLF7QQGRiU

Part of the reason I want the GTS is the awesome looks; I am happy to deal with the hassle for that!

Thanks! Very useful!
NP.

For ref that was one Babyzen and two flight bags, one on top of the other. Two more fit in front of the Babyzen on top of each other. Then you have a couple of semi-circular type spaces in either wing for a small soft bag.

My other half was adamant that it wouldn't all fit, but begrudgingly conceded - I knew she was beaten as I was chastised for wasting time packing the boot of the car :D

The iCandy is clearly nicely designed and clever. But putting all those bits together and apart each time you get it in or out of the car will become a major chore in no time. For your budget I'd get a Range Rover - far more luxurious and practical. You simply open the boot and throw the whole buggy in - no dismantling, folding, or any other nonsense. But all this is of no relevance at all - you want a GTS and good for you. Live the dream and buy one. They are a fabulous car, and very very nearly as good as a QP

Levante. You get the Maserati experience you hanker but the practicality you need. Problem solved.

Better imo, just so good, The best of modern Maserati's if you speak to most of the pundits and techs who work on them day in day out.

One has a wife to worry about practicalities and kerbing fun, leaving the man of the house free to indulge :)

(The Babyzen flicks open with one hand and is ready to use. It's a cracking piece of engineering).

A diesel SUV is hardly the same as a GTS. A big 4x4 is what i see as the other family car and I'd want it bigger than the Levante.

I'm not sure I could be bothered trying to get child seats in/out the back of a GT. I have the patience of a saint but even this is a step too far for me. So many different 2 car configurations would work better for the same money. I think my 6 cars are only worth not much more & you get a bit of everything. I get bored with one car easily.

Macan/RR & TVR/Spyder should do the trick ;)

Eh? What else is there that gives the same thrill? It's not like he will be putting them in everyday just when they want to take the Maser. We do the same but keep the seats in our SUV.

I know we move ours about a bit and it gets on my wick in some cars. On the XC90 & Freelander it's easy as they are 4 door but also have well designed easy fittings that take 2 secs. Not up on the GT rear ISOFIX fixings but just get them in/out of back would be enough for me.

The XJ is pretty easy as well. The XF....what a stupid fixing that is. You get a 1 inch vertical slot (phnar phnar!) In the leather to negotiate. Can take 5 secs or 5 mins! Clearly Mr Callum had no hand in that area of the car.

Each to their own and if it doesn't bother the OP then not an issue. I'm obviously getting too old & couldn't be ar5ed. For me....child seats....4 doors.

Obviously I'm in agreement that the GT is a cracking car especially in later 4.7 S form.

It is what you are used to I think. The GT was my most practical car for sometime. So once you get used to it and there is nothing else it is fine. You don't know better.

What is even better then the yoyo is the baby pockit stroller. Now that is small!

Also I find that the boot in the GTS is wider than my wife's Ford Focus! And is actually more practical for the pram!

I have a 1 year old and a 3 (soon to be 4) year old, admitedly when they are babies and the child seats are massive buly things it can be a little bit of a faff on, but still manageable.
Now for the 3 year old we have a top quality belt secured seat and it really is a doddle, seat forward rest it in, he climbs in and it takes 5 seconds to belt him in nice and secure. Even the 1 year olds seat is capable of being belt secured and we just leave the isofix in the wife's car.

Yeah ok its not an SUV which takes no time at all but it really isnt that much of a huge deal. We also have a city pram from mammas and papps that fits in the GT, job jobbed

My old E92 M3 boot was massive and the GT doesnt compare, but its definitely usable by a long shot.

Much love, mumsnet

2 seats are no good when you have two little kids and want all the family to be able to feel the love.

(Am keeping mine for when they're a bit older and have been able to determine which one is truly my favourite).

Exactly. When I found out it was twins, my first thought was to get an Exige V6 and a separate mile mile muncher, but I realised i'd hardly ever get to use the Exige, and the only time my wife would get to be in it would be when we have a babysitter at home.
