Right got the part. 4 weeks later! Unfortunately my dealer got the carbon replacement. But fortunately I only got charged £115! Does anyone know how to fit it? Surely it pops out? Cheers.

Thats a bargain! Total Muppets!
I mine comes in tomorrow and I am going to get my local main dealers to fit it. Takes minutes apparently. Why such a long wait for the part I wonder. Was is via a main dealers?

Ask them about the switches underneath, my reverse is intermittent after the previous owner replaced His buttons because of this wearing.

Doesn't it work all the time now? They must not have replaced it properly - I will ask how they do it and how easy it would be to take out and have a look.

Same for me - centre console R button is very worn. The 1 above it is starting to go. Dash mounted Auto button is showing signs of wear as is the Sport button. Obviously the extensive 8.5k miles on the clock is a reason for the 'buttons made of chocolate' wearing.

Its a joke isn't it? You would have thought they would be more robust. With technology nowadays one would expect more.
Maybe engraved titanium would be the best way forward - to have the most prodded part of the car made of play dough makes little sense.

I have some wear to my sport and auto buttons plus the 1 & R but also the steering wheel volume buttons which are quite scrathy. I think it happens to all of them and maybe I'll swap them all at some point as they're not pretty

Nope, you have to press it down all the way then sort of wiggle it to the left and it engages reverse. The previous owner swapped it out because of button script wear. That is one of the things it is going back for next week.

Lol my thoughts exactly, was sat in it yesterday admiring the silver carbon and looked at the rest of the dash buttons etc and noticed some wear. I thought Maserati surely must have learnt from all the previous cars (3200, 4200, GS) with button wear and sticky switches etc but no exactly the same sort of thing on the GTS! Unbelievable! At least they are consistently sh1t! :D

Mine has wear on the R button too. A massive 5600 miles in so far....

Interestingly, a friend of mine has a luxury car dealership in Dubai and he moans about the buttons melting on Maseratis which causes them no end of grief. At least ours are just a little worn!

Yeah they melt down here too and cars imported from Singapore are atrocious with interiors almost a write off.

Has anyone found a suitable solution?
You would have thought a small protective film, or non-heat/oil labile spray on membrane would sort it.
Franchise opportunity - 'Glorious Buttons'

I am sure I have seen a film with the phrase 'Glorious Buttons' in the script. Not sure it would be suitable for CBeebies.

There is definitely an opportunity to get something modelled and maybe have a little SM in the corner of the button, rather than TM, to demonstrate our allegiance.
