The summer of 76? I was 5 years old...I feel like a youngster, only 12.
Good man for having moral conviction - use a different route home for a while....DRINK DRIVERS
On my way home I passed two chaps pulled up over the dual carriageway verge over the cycle path and changing a wheel on one of their cars. As I couldn't ride paste, I had to dismount and go around them on the mud and as I was clambering past I smelt them honking of booze. One of them wanted to start on me but the other guy held him back. I cycled until I was out of sight and called the police. I hope they didn't get to return to the road.
I recently had one of those traffic cop shows on whilst cooking and remembered the police saying that a substantial proportion of drink-drivers are caught due to public reporting them. That way I knew I should do it.Good man for having moral conviction - use a different route home for a while....
Think you misunderstand, if they have been arrested, they may remember the cyclist they had an altercation with, and put 2 & 2 together....I recently had one of those traffic cop shows on whilst cooking and remembered the police saying that a substantial proportion of drink-drivers are caught due to public reporting them. That way I knew I should do it.
I don't think I need worry about my route home... either they've gone because they were arrested or because they could get going!
CAR INSURANCE - makes no sence
My son, 24 yrs old 6 years no claims drives a fully modified MK5 Golf GTI stage 3 map - full air ride suspension- short shifter - sports exhaust etc etc all fully declared and agreed value 6k.
So he gets a new job and needs a sensible car to commute in so off he goes and gets a 2.0 diesel VW Passat - value 6k - guess what, his insurance goes up from just over £600 to just over £800 !!
Makes no sense to me -
Rather reminds me when I took the Saab off the road - highly modified - and replaced it with the Focus ST of pretty similar performance and the specialist insurer wanted me to pay 5 times the amount for the Saab and get a black box installed! I pointed out that they may have my age wrong by a decade and that my Maser insurance is 1/4 of their quote and said goodbye. So within 14 days he cancelled the insurance, moved back to a specialist in modified car insurance, had the car mapped by a mate for the price of a drink, has had the exhaust modified (replaced back box with none standard) and saved £150 on his annual premium.
Still makes no sense to me.......
.....he was driving a Range Rover, I need one....
