I made a reply on that PH post. The carbon is very expensive but actually no more so than the competiiton from Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren etc. The average Ferrari these days has over £40k of options so it's no surprise to see them option up a press car.
Of course PH is full of dreamers and armchair critics so not many of the replies come from potential owners or those that appreciate why the MC20 is so special when compared to the Huracan, Artura etc. It's the usual stuff about an Emira being better value or a used McLaren etc.
For what it's worth, none of these competitors - at least at similar pricing - produces a truly bespoke, ground up, design. They have the luxury of borrowing key mechanicals from their sister companies, or in the case of McLaren, they have engines being built by someone else (Ricardo). The MC20 is a lot of money but it really is the most special piece of engineering this side of £500k.
I hope it helps bolster the brand and introduce it to a new, younger audience. I think it will. And for that, we should all be grateful and it will lead to some brand security and so on. We harped on when they showed the Alfieri about Halo cars and after Ferrari stole that one, I'm very pleased they managed to get the MC20 into production.
My expectation is they will drop towards the end of the year to around £130-150k and sit there. If they do that, i'm in.
Oh, and the exterior carbon is so choice. My used one will have it and I thank the original owner for speccing it for me and losing most of that money!
