That has its own built in Satnav, though surely. So it will need a GPS antenna. Notwithstanding what the guys at Aston have said, there appears to be no method of trans GPS data to the phone and Carplay is *just* a video display of what the phone is doing. All the built in Carplay units are doing is effectively giving up control of the screen to the phone. So when in Carplay it's all phone.

Apple tend to be really hot on Apps which don't follow their rules (we know this as one of our Apps takes months to get into the App store every time we try to do a new version) so I would be very surprised (with my current knowledge) if there wasn't something *else* wrong with that 'AstonNIT' that was causing issues, but........

...I've been wrong before ;)

It's certainly a NIT issue (a nissue), seemingly related to the NIT getting lost and then communicating its ignorance to the mirrored CarPlay display.

A replacement NIT made the issue go away. A replacement GPS antenna did not. A new phone did not. Rerunning some wiring also didn't. It was, predictably, the most expensive bit that had shat itself. Albeit in a small but smelly way.

Coming September with capacitive touchscreen, HD backup camera with custom designed mount, bending lines and HDMI to the screen so best quality, full steering wheel controls.

I have the kit at work just need to find time to test fit it to my car and order it all.
Any update on this please?

Only today I plugged my iPhone in to the GT, turned on Waze and my favourite music (apart from the X-pipe) and went on my way thinking… this is brilliant for an ‘old car’

Yes I have the new kit, it’s gone up £200 and the custom mount for the rear camera did not happen. I have it running in my car and am midway through fitting the first one to a customer car.
Can you pm the price fitted please

A week or so ago, my up till now 4+ years totally reliable V1, has stopped connecting to my phone and android Auto doesn't boot. Samsung Galaxy S21
All the cables seem to be working ok and the the phone charges when plugged in. I've tried both the inputs and different cables.
The dongle still has its little light on, but other than that don't know how else I can test if that's working properly?
Before I go tearing into the dash, anyone experienced similar ?
Maybe some recent android updates that the system doesn't like?

@conaero any ideas?

Well, your thought about Android is probably a valid one. Have you got someone in the household with an iPhone you could try? That will probably be the simplest way to point the finger at the phone or the kit.

Had a similar problem in my 2018 Golf last week. Re-installed Android Auto in the Samsung phone, and all good.

Don't ask me why...

Na, we're all Android, and S21's so probably at the same update level, but I can hopefully collar a yoof with an I-phone at some point. Lol.
Am I right in thinking that the only difference for carplay was the lightning cable, so now the newer I - phones are usbc, it should just be plug and play?

Yes correct. I swapped my lightning over for a usbC to fit iPhone 15

Ok, so not sure if this works for Android or if similar kit (the module using the OEM screen), but my iPhone stopped connecting wirelessly and I found out the software can need updating.

So you connect to the box via wifi and for mine go to http://192.168.50.2/ and this should open a software screen where you can view/update the module.

That fixed my connection issues but may be different if yours isn’t even booting

Haven't got hold of an I-phone yet, but did try un installing android auto updates on my phone, and also plugged in my old S10, that hasn't been updated for 2 years (and used to work on there) but no joy yet.

Cheers. What system do you have fitted? One of these but the later wireless version?
I did have a look around in the settings menu but couldn't find any update pages.
Where did you get the above address from?

I'm not sure if I've got the same system as you - mine is from Naviplus in Australia and it uses an overlay screen over the OEM display. I use Android solely, but I don't have a "dongle" with a light on in my set-up. There is a box that the USB cable plugs into, and this is tucked up behind the trim covering the transmission tunnel on the passenger side. It's quite simple to access. My understanding is that it is this box that is the brains of the system, and if anything needed to be updated it would be this box - so no need to tear the dash apart.

Having said all of that, mine is working just fine. My phone is an A52 and it's running the latest version of Android that was released for this phone by Samsung - no idea what version that actually is.

I also have the naviplus module but I’ll guess it’s not much different.
Forgot to ask is yours a wired or wireless connection?
If wired maybe the data cable has gone which would be an easy fix except for getting to the usb on back of module!

Mine is meant to be a wired connection but I fitted a wireless usb adapter instead so it can connect wirelessly.

A mate with a new MG said the wireless software is the same and gave me the zip address to try, which worked
