My guess is this allows the oil to drain out from the hydraulic tappets and then they rattle against the cam until they are full of oil again on startup. But that may be completely wrong :-)
That said whatever it does seems to have stopped the rattle I had so fingers crossed it stays the same.
The valve is a ball bearing on a spring, it would appear on mine the spring is not as strong as it was. the photos below show it before and after pushing in the ball bearing with a small screwdriver. The spring in the new one was noticeably stronger.
I change the oil every year, it didn't do it every day but it was getting more frequent, hoping iv'e caught it before any damage was done. Rattle still gone so all good so far. Strange how there is only one of them on the left side of the engine, I guess the oil must be fed different to the...
I've had a problem for a few weeks where the valves rattle on my 2007 QP when I start it from cold. I searched around the forums and was worried it might be the variators needing to be changed and cost me £££££££££.
I then found a thread on the 4200 following some great advice from Voicey (as...
Got the whining sorted out on the alternator, I ended up taking it off and getting it refurbished at www.londonessexautoelectrics.co.uk full refers, new bearings and did pack all in £180 looked brand new when completed, a bargain I thought. Was a long job to get out, have to remove the wipers...
Sounds like it could be to do with the miles just hit 64K. Think I will go for the Eurospares unit might be more expensive but at least you know you're getting the right part.
Hoping you can help, I have a whining coming from my alternator and have been trying to find replacement other than eurospares, however I have come across two different part numbers both claiming to fit the car
325296 these tend to be around £600
193120 these tend to be cheaper around £400...
Hi All,
I'll be changing my coolant soon any tips would be appreciated. Do i ned to open the bleed bolts on the heads or will the air expel through the filler if the cap is left off?
thanks all in advance
Apparently they have to programme the unit to your car and require the chassis number, also they ensure the unit is working correctly as well. They say its to ensure there are no bad units with their name being used. probably just another way of making money :-). They will not just sell the...
I have had the DBW unit on my QP for just over a year now, I can't say I really notice any huge difference to the gear changes but the most noticeable thing is the quickness in clutch engagement, the throttle response is so much quicker than standard. A lot quicker to get going off the line and...
I bought an ODBSTAR X200 from China, resets the service indicator on my 2007 QP without issue. I service my own cars so needed a way to do it without going to a garage. For £150 was well worth it paid for itself already.
I'm in Essex happy to give it try on your car if you're in the area
I have a manual handbrake on my 07 QP, i'm having issues in that it does not seem to function fully i.e. does not hold the car on a hill.
I replaced the shoes thinking this might be the problem and adjusted correctly but still have the same problem, could it be the handbrake cable being...
Just thought I would update on this, I didn't get chance to fit a charger before I went away so took the chance and left it for the 2 weeks, as you all correctly told me it was fine, started first time. Guess the trouble I had last time was down to a faulty battery.
Fingers crossed it continues...
Thanks for all the tips, i did leave it before for 10 days and nothing when I started it, I did replace the battery so hopefully i'm worrying about nothing.
I have power near the car so might do what voicey said and leave it on a trickle charge.
Thanks all :-)
