I checked the hoses on my car a few days ago and there seems to be quite a lot of space (in masarati terms anyway, maybe 1cm or more) between the hoses and the engine. Can't imagine how it would rub on anything... maybe yours were routed incorrectly or have something else routed which is getting...

I think EOBD means European On Board Diagnostics - usually engine management checks. Hard to beliebe than an error here would prevent the engine from starting. Sounds more like that the problem is to do with the F1 gearchange not working hence stuck in first. Relay and fuses ok? good...

Yup, should be a main adjuster on the back of the light, its on the top left of this puicture (not xenon) and can be easily accessed/felt through the access panels-could be a bit stiff though (oh err):
