    THE FUTURE vs THE PAST!!

Only driven one once, and that was maybe 30 years ago. Can’t recall much about it now though. Obviously a fun car, and handsome.

    THE FUTURE vs THE PAST!!

Nippy, yes. But still slow. Whereas the Alpine can crack a sub 4 second 0-60. Overall, the Alpine is cheaper than its equivalent Porsche, as well as being lighter, faster, and more fun. But still the masses buy Caymans instead. It baffles me. The Alpine is still heavier and slower than my...

    Maserati Specialist Recommendation

Have used Emblem since year zero. And Myles, their Maserati man, since before that (when he was at Meridien Modena). In fact, the very first signature in the service book for my 1997 QP, and the most recent from 2023, are both from Myles. For me, that says it all.

I suppose selling so few explains why residuals are so high. Good news for owners. You could still pay £35-£40k for one that was £50k five years ago.

    THE FUTURE vs THE PAST!!

Agreed. Alpine just can’t sell enough of them. Same problem for Aston, Lotus, Maserati, McLaren, etc. I think they sold about 4500 A110 worldwide last year, so not a lot.

    THE FUTURE vs THE PAST!!

A brand new Alpine A110 is £50k, and there’s no need to go crazy on spec. Then the GT and the S are £60k. You can spend £70k on one, but you don’t have to. And at £50k, I think the base model is a cracking buy.

    THE FUTURE vs THE PAST!!

More people should buy an Alpine. Just about the best drivers car available for vaguely sensible money, and only 1100kg. I‘m amazed only about 200 a year sell in the U.K. It just goes to show how few people care about their actual driving experience. (Lots say they do, but yet they still buy an...

    Quattroporte for sale

According to the brochure: Both the Auto and Auto Sport GT had skyhook. Specific to the Auto Sport GT were: Paddles behind the steering wheel to allow gear changes (whereas on the Auto you needed to use the central gearstick) 20 inch seven spoke alloy wheels (as opposed to the 19 inch nine...

    Quattroporte for sale

I've just dug out my Maserati range brochure from 2008, just prior to the face-lift S model being launched. And to my surprise, it does include the Auto Sport GT. The full Maserati range (in the UK) was (in the order they appear in the brochure): QP Auto QP Auto Sport GT QP Auto Executive GT QP...

    THE FUTURE vs THE PAST!!

I’ve just checked the handbook. The recommended running-in is keeping below 3500 rpm (and not to use full throttle) for the first 620 miles (1000 km), and then not to drive in a “sporty” fashion until 1860 miles (3000 km). And yes, they use the word sporty and put it in inverted comas! The...
