    4200 no radio or hazards

Sounds plausible but I don't think a code is needed for the NIT - at least I have never needed to when disconnecting the battery!

    4200 no radio or hazards

Another update on this. Radio had been working fine all month until yesterday when I came to the car and it wouldn't attempt to start after sitting for a few days. Electrics all came on and battery fine, but no crank or anything. Got in and out to see if the pump was priming and couldn't hear it...

    Wheel arch liners

Thank you for the input all and Zep for solving the problem! Looks like the carpets are one of those surprisingly reasonable parts, so I may swap in the not too distant future to see what the difference is. I also have an Alfa Giulia which has *very* carpeted wheel wells so I'm used to having to...

    Wheel arch liners

My car is also a 2003 4200 but has the hard ones! My main reason for asking is that the textured ones seem like a better option even if harder to clean. I’d imagine they make a large difference to road and stone noise.

    Wheel arch liners

I've been scratching my head over this one all day and can't find an answer. In some images I've seen of our cars they've had textured/carpeted wheel liners, and in others and my own car, the wheel liners are smooth hard plastic. A quick look at eBay shows limited numbers of both kinds, but the...

    3200/4200 Rear Control Arm

Would just like to resurrect and add my experience to this thread as a caution. I've been chasing a godawful racket on the right rear of my 4200, which I'd initially decided was the lower wishbone balljoint. But no - I've now discovered that the noise is coming from the rose joint on the tie...

Gransport Rear Control Arm Ball joint advice

Quick question but I'm not sure if anyone will know. I'm replacing the lower control arm tomorrow which looks like a fairly straightforward job. While I'm doing this, I'd ideally want to replace the boot on the upper ball joint as it's starting to crack, but I think the joint is still good. With...

    4200 no radio or hazards

The plot thickens. The audio functions came back to life this morning for the first time in a couple of weeks despite my attempts the previous evening. I've stopped and started many times today and it's happily coming on as it should. However, I still have no hazards. I also now have the curious...

    4200 no radio or hazards

Ah yes makes sense - mine definitely not like that. It’s strange that I have exactly the same symptoms - no audio functions and no hazards - as the many people with a blown NIT fuse, but without the blown fuse. There must surely be something related going on.

    4200 no radio or hazards

@Gp79 I have stumbled across your thread discussing the cracked rear plate - mine appears to be similar but the four springs are in place as they should be.

    4200 no radio or hazards

Didn’t look like it had blown, no, but I couldn’t be certain as it was one of those awkward opaque ones with the clear top. I’ve just gone out to have a look at the display. There were indeed a few cracks in the black plastic backing plate. Removed and quickly inspected and couldn’t see any...

    4200 no radio or hazards

Have had my 4200 for about six weeks now. Intermittently the radio would not work - the Info Centre fully functional other than audio options. Every now and again the disc drive would operate but still with no actual audio available. It’s now not working at all and hasn’t in a couple of weeks...

    4200 dropping into N from 1 or R

It's now been more than a week since I've had the light come on, and nearly two since it actually caused any issues, despite the codes remaining. Have covered a good 200 miles of varied driving in that time with the car used every day. Very odd indeed.

Gransport Rear Control Arm Ball joint advice

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but these BMW boots - are they suitable for both upper and lower rear joints, or just the upper as photographed?

    4200 / 3200 Suspension Compatibility

I’m chasing a noise or two at the back of my 4200 and aware of the difficulties in sourcing some of the parts. Which parts are the same between the two cars? Are the upper and lower control arms the same for example? Some research suggests yes but I can’t see a definite answer.
