    Italian Stallions

Friday Night meet. This is NOT my title for the meeting of Italian Cars on Poole Quay in Dorset. UK. The local council chose the name!!!! Having taken my classic Mini Cooper to the 'Mini day' (three weeks ago), I was encouraged to take my car to this event. The popularity of Poole Quay ensured...

About to throw in the towel

I bought mine new 8 months ago. There were plenty of discounts available. No regrets at all. Just have to get used to the range thing, but it's like learning a new skill. I don't particularly like those with the little noisy petrol top-ups - too much like hybrids!

RM Sotherbys - Paris - time to lock away your credit card

5 turbo absolutely! Mind you the Citroen DS convertible isn't bad either. Funny since they are both French through and through!

    Might be a Cover up.

Please don't I have well-ventilated car ports with constant ventilation - I don't drive my cars in the rain or on wet roads. Experience has taught me a lot and car covers are not the answer. (53 years of car ownership). I have a classic Mini Cooper also under the car ports and do likewise. I...

    Sleeping with the devil?

The thing about buying new is that the BMWs are not much more expensive than the others. Also with a new car, one benefits from: Gov't grant Dealer discounts are good I didn't even consider 'used' for those reasons.

    Sleeping with the devil?

I rather think that I am a little more optimistic about the future. Nothing changes over-night and there will be an evolution of the infrastructure for such a monumental change. Reading the motoring press (as one does), it is clear that charging points will appear as the demand grows; it's not a...

    Sleeping with the devil?

Ewan has hit the nail on the head. With our mileage we will always charge at home and thought of never queueing at a filling station sounds pretty good to me. I don't envisage ever having to charge mid-journey. It really is 'horses for courses' at present and with cars in the pipeline with...

    Sleeping with the devil?

I don't remember the last time I posted on here but it's a nice place to be. I did have a look to see who said 'what' about the subject but . . . . . . . like most of the members on this forum, I do like to read the motoring press, though not for the opinions of the writers. However it struck...

    Potential new owner.

I see you are retired. Me too and I have had my annual renewal on my '03 4200 of £185.00 without even haggling. But that is based on living in the South West on 2k miles per annum and a £400 excess. With SAGA and I usualyy have to fight with them for my cars at renewal time. Are they learning...

    Thank you Emblem Poole

As an addition to my previous post, it strikes me that whilst there is work to be had for all (I hope) it is also abundantly clear that the reputation of Emblem (which is probably second to none) was won over a long period with the company principals having countless years experience of the...

    Different Car for me?

Yes it is very nice and if I'm honest, I wouldn't mind one on the drive. But, and there is always a 'but', the interior (which is the bit you live with) is just like any other from any manufacturer of premium cars. Lots of distracting 'infotainment' (don't you hate that word?) buttons and...

    Thank you Emblem Poole

I am quite in agreement with their wishes. They remain supreme and my cars would never go anywhere else.

    Pre purchase inspection

For what it's worth, I did get an RAC inspection 10 years ago for my purchase. It was actually very comprehensive but things may have changed.

    Emblem Saturday morning clinic

Emblem have looked after my 4200 for 10 years this August - and never a question of anything less than perfection from them. I must be the luckiest chap as I even live in Poole!
