    GranSport Wheels for sale

Hi folks A quick note to say I have a couple of GS front wheels for sale - bought 8 years ago, refurbed (anthracite) and but never used. I posted pictures on the Bits for Sale forum GranSport Wheels, cover, tyres for sale but flagging here in case - like me - you don't always scroll down. NB...

GranSport Wheels, cover, tyres for sale

After 8+ brilliant years, my GranSport has, sadly, gone. A write-up of the car to come but for now, I have some stuff for sale. 2 x 19" front wheels - bought 8 years ago, refurbished (anthracite finish), then put back in box, unused. A couple of small marks but otherwise spotless. £350 each...

    North Coast 500 - in a GranSport?

Hello chums. Has anyone done the NC500 in a 4200 series GranSport? I really want a new adventure in my car but given its **** suspension, low profile tyres and dislike of reversing (especially uphill), it sounds like much of the route wouldn't suit it. There are other options readily to...

    Camber settings

Hello chums, Apologies in advance as I'm sure this has been covered multiple times previously but I can't see where... Does anyone have recommended settings for GranSport wheel geometry? I'm happy to trade some of the low speed agility for more high speed stability. Much as I like a darty...

Bimota being sold to fund GS repairs

A man took away my bike today, to recommission then sell. Its been under a dust sheet for 20 years waiting for 'the right moment', which never really came. Now, with a GranSport needing rust repairs (and maybe rinkydink new suspension) its time to move it on. My wife helped with the...

    Ditching Skyhook?

The one thing that bugs me about the GS more than any other is - no, not the gearbox, which I (whisper) quite like, but the suspension...which is just rubbish, as has oft been remarked. Has anyone out there ditched Skyhook and tried something else? Is that even possible? Every time I read...

    GranSport Rusty Rear

Hello folks, its been while since my last post - reflecting the times and the limited use Blue Donkey has had over the past year (which is why rats took up residence in the engine...a story for another time). The rust underneath the rear lights has got to the point where I need to sort it - its...

New suspension for an old dog?

I reckon the suspension on my GS is getting a bit tired. Are there any recommendations for replacing the Skyhook system? After 5 years I can honestly say the non-bump absorbing OE suspension is the only thing I hate about the car. I don't want to go lower, stiffen it up for track work or any...

    Track advice

What, in your experience, is the most fun track to take a GS on? In previous biking life I did track days at Brands, Donnington, Cadwell and Snetterton, and Mallory in classics. I've done Goodwood a few times in the Maser and while its been great fun, I'm always conscious of the high...

    Rust. Time to get medieval?

Funny that I haven't noticed this until recently but have two dodgy areas, presumably rust, underneath the rear lights. The pain has cracked near one corner. I understand that this will likely require metal being replaced etc. Any advice on who to use? (I'm based Surrey / West London way)...

Set up gone wrong - falling out of love with the GS

An unforced, self-inflicted error has just reinforced what I love most about my GS. Steering it. At its last service I asked the garage (who've looked after it for the past 6 or so years) if they could take a look the wheel set up, add a bit of toe-in perhaps, to make it a touch less twitchy...

    Brick vs wheel. Wheel loses

Some careless so and so left a house brick in the middle of the road. I found it for them. Quite dramatically. If anyone has or knows of a spare Gransport front wheel (preferably grey...) I'm in the market! Marwood.

    Bricking it

I'm sure there is a German phrase which sums up the feeling. You have a great meeting with clients and finish early. The sun is blazing and your shiny GS is sat, fully fuelled, waiting in the car park. You decide to take the long way home, through beautiful countryside and via great roads...

    A Year In...

6000 miles and a little over a year into owning a GranSport, some thoughts to share... 1. Am still delighted with it and get an enormous buzz from driving it. 2. It is faster, better handling and much more nimble than I expected. The thrill of threading it down twisty roads hasn't...

    Trim rattle and roll

Interior advice needed team. After a year ignoring the rattle coming from somewhere near the vent on the upper dash I've decided its time to sort it. Curiously, hitting it twice didn't work. Any advice before I end sitting in a disordered pile of ripped leather and wiring? Also, a...

    Winter wonders or hibernation?

Went out the other morning for a 6am run (one advantage of having a five month old: helps you get up and out before the traffic...) only for the ice warning on the GS to start pinging... Drove around rather gingerly until it showed 4 degrees then pressed on..and a bit harder... Observations...

    Shere Hill Climb, 7th September

Anyone going along to this, or indeed, taking part? http://www.sherehillclimb.co.uk There's a 3500 GT on the list as well as a Gran Cabrio, plus some other really interesting machinery. And a Triumph Stag. Discovered it too late to enter but looking forward to going as a spectator. M

Interior light coming on, draining battery

Looking forward to a run tomorrow when I get a call from the lady who's garage I rent for the GS. Alarm going off. By the time I get there, it's dead, doors won't unlock etc. Either someone bumped it (they say not), or there's a glitch. They said they saw an interior light on in the...

    Scuffs of honour

"You know how weird that makes you look?" So said my lovely wife, watching me contentedly polish the cogs on my race bike. I pointed out how logos on the tyres (also cleaned) were now nicely aligned with the valves, adding that my vehicular OCD was a fairly benign affliction for a middle aged...

GT Thang / converting the masses

Escape the Smoke for a few days and head for friends in Yorkshire, with son tucked up in the back. Four hours of peace and comfort, just me, the kid, some minor squeaks and a gently thrumming V8. Lovely. And, because I'm not driving with the needle stuck at '7' am delighted to get 20mpg...
