    2005 QP Trident

Hi All, A friend has just bought a QP and the middle prong is broken on the trident in the grill. Does anyone have any ideas how to get a replacement without replacing the whole grill as per the eurospares website?

    I like your car

So, we're just back from a trip to the "end of the road" in bonnie Scotland. On our way up we were coming to the end of a dual carriageway on the A9 with those lovely average speed cameras. There was a truck and 3 lorries in front, plenty of room to pass before the end unless the truck pulled...

    Handbrake Tip

A useful handbrake tip. Don't adjust these cars too tight. You want more than a couple of clicks on the lever for it to activate, otherwise you're at risk of the shoes rubbing continuously and then delaminating. This can have serious consequences if you haven't realised that it's happened...

    Isle of Man video

This is quite good to watch for 20 minutes. A tour of the TT circuit in a Subaru at speeds upto 165 with commentary. http://www.bbc.com/autos/story/20140702-the-best-onboard-footage-ever http://www.bbc.com/autos/story/20140702-the-best-onboard-footage-ever

    Pure Class

We just spent some time outside the Cafe de Paris, Monaco watching the world go by. Many Ferraris, bentleys, rollers, etc, and a solitary blue GT were in front of the Casino. A few tourists were getting their photo taken next to a Ferrari but the Maserati was attracting so much attention that...

    Oil Pressure

Having just changed the pressure sensor, the gauge is working remarkably well. The needle is moving as quick as the tachometer. (Not quite as quick as the fuel gauge though:) ) The reading at tickover with a warm engine is 2.4 bar and with a hot (90C) engine it drops to around 2.2. The gauge...

    A Parking Warning

Here's a warning for you, not that any of us would park our beauties outside! My daughter just found a parking ticket on her car for parking within 10 metres of a junction. Not on a main road, not on a busy road, not where you would think it's an obstruction and not where there are any lines on...

    Bad noise at startup

This weekend I've developed an awful noise when the engine starts. It lasts less than 5 seconds and is coming from the front near side. First I thought the oil level was low as it sounds like bearing has been starved, but no the oil is fine. Any ideas?

    A note to oneself

And anyone else with a 4200. Don't clear the windscreen with the wipers if the drivers side window is open. Gawd knows how many times I've done that and got drenched!

    Loose door mirror

I noticed that either through time, wind or the occasional knock that my door mirror was loose and consequently would change position when driving. Today was the day to cure it. I used Loz's brilliantly detailed door card removal post to remind where all those screws were and got the door card...

Happy 83,000th Birthday and a handbrake warning

Just as it should be, the clock ticked over to 83,000 miles at 130mph on an autobahn. The car performing effortlessly and wanting to go faster (or was that me!) Then about 15 miles of roadworks at 80kph. W came out of the roadworks, started to speed up and heard and felt a vibration. Gulp...

    avoid belgium

Why? Well the roads are rubbish. Poor holes, bumps that would make our sleeping policeman look normal and worse. Best to keep out of support mode, that way only the suspension will be ruined.

    Loose Paddles

Was advised during my service that the up paddle was loose. I had a look today and was surprised how loose both paddles were. It's not noticeable without getting to the screws. Could be worth checking when you've got 15 mins. Quite easy to do, you just need a couple of Allen keys and the...

    Shot my Cats

Yep, they've now got holes in them. I'm currently looking at alternatives as the OEM is crazily expensive. Options so far are: Larini's Cut into the boxes and replace the bricks. Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thruxton hotel

Can anybody recommend one near the circuit? We've just booked some weekend tickets for the BTCC and we normally end up staying in some that are not too good at these events.

    99 Quatroporte

There's one just finished on eBay. It's with a dealer for just under £5k. The shape may be little dated but its still a lovely looking car. I'm trying to persuade my wife but she insists its too big for her.

    Favourite accessory

What's yours? My daily driver has headlights that turn with the steering wheel. Do I miss them when in another car. Reminiscent of the Maserati that Citreon made. Otherwise it's the paddle change for me.

    Seat motors stopped

Quite fortunate that they did as when I looked under the passenger seat I saw a PCB that I thought was fixed to the floor. The box that secured it to the bottom of the seat had fallen off and the board had wedged itself between the seat and carpet during one of its movements. I disconnected and...

    Dash Cam

After a few very scary moments of not my making over the holiday, I'm thinking of getting a dash cam. Has anyone else used one of these and do you have any recommendations?
