I know when they get to a certain low price people might say worth it even for parts the reality is you might be a long time selling seats or a bonnet etc and recouping(no pun intended) your £5500.
They’re a nice looking bike Loz and back in the day (late 70s/early80s) I never saw one. Seen a couple over the years which I’m guessing have been imported from America. The late 70s/early80s a XS650 Custom was popular.
My apologies Burf, just caught up on this post. I got waylaid New Years Day.
Being April I do believe the car meets on the first Friday of the month have started. Might be worth a call to The Oak pub to confirm first.
My biking days are over I’m afraid. The only thing I would entertain is a Fantic or Garelli sports moped for a bit of nostalgia. Had some great fun back in the day.
With the (unjustified) bad rep Maseratis have for reliability people will be reluctant to spend a lot on something they’ve not give a run up the road. The market isn’t in the shape it was in 3 years ago, both these things keep auction prices down imho.
What is justified criticism at Maserati, a...
We love noise Phil!
In Newmarket there’s a road called Palace Street, narrow, tall buildings, wind the throttle open in first and shut off, sweet music. Now full of speed humps, all the fun has gone, lol
Couple of mates had a K6 in that purple black tank. One mate kept his immaculate and bolt standard, the other ditched the four pipes straight away and put a Yoshimura 4-1 on. Tbf to him the standard pipes got ditched in most cases. Now everyone wants standard four pipes on their CB750 and Z1900
In the late 70s there was a Partco in Newmarket and the bloke who worked behind the counter was called Roger, forever going in there for the jalopy me and my mates owned, points, condenser, distributor cap etc. Fast forward to 2005/6 ish and who should be working in Ridgeon’s builders merchants...
Totally agree but tbf that’s always been the case especially as cars have been getting bigger. Add in to the fact the potholes and lots of these roads losing chunks on the side they’re best avoided in any big car.
One story my much missed dad use to tell me was when I was a tot the family went...
Although I think the E-type will always be special I do think some of their owners/fans are sadly passing away now and the car slightly losing its appeal sadly. Perhaps the new barometer might be a Sierra Cosworth now?
I think the days of anything making good money at an auction are over for the time being.
Certain VW’s seem to be a law unto themselves when it comes the market.
Did anyone see the results of the Anglia Car Auctions from Saturday?
There was 20 year old Mercs that were going through there barely making £3 grand. Not far off a price of a 4200 Maserati when new I’m guessing.
