18 years of Maserati ownership sadly comes to an end....

Well after an early 4200 and then an early GT it is time for a change..I NEARLY went for a late Granturismo but ultimately want a bit more technology....and now the kids have left home I don't need 4 seats anymore.....I have enjoyed (most) of the ownership experience hugely (apart from the odd...

E10 ethanol fuel is coming- watch out low usage cars

Just read E10 ethanol fuel is coming this September in the UK. In the mid 2000's Florida introduced E10. At the time I was running a 5.7 V8 powerboat which I kept at my holiday home in Florida's Gulf Coast. I had no choice but to switch to E10. The boat sat for months at a time unused whilst I...

Just spent nearly a million quid on a new garage for the Maserati and it wouldn't fit..............

We (well me really) wanted to move recently to a new house which had an integral double garage. Found a house that fitted the bill, before making an offer, I carefully measured the door width and made 100% sure the GT would fit width wise through the door (It has twin doors) Fine with 2 inches...

    Navtrak removal??

I think the internal Navtrak battery is draining the main battery on the GranT. Navtrak (Vodafone now) want £150 for a "deinstall call out" Or £500 for a new one. I had a quick word with Matt at Giallo who says the trackers are very easy to get to on the Gt, but he thinks the car won't...

    Bye .........for now

Well after 6 years with a 4200 and 6 years with a GT I just can't justify keeping the GT in the garage gathering dust any longer....Running our rental villas in Florida and now Menorca I have been out of country most of 2017 and have just done 30 miles this year......so it is with a heavy heart...

Six years with Granturismo versus six years with a 4200

Having just clocked up six years with my Granturismo I glanced through my records to see how reliability compared with my previous 4200 also owned for six years. Both cars owned from two years old and 10k miles. On balance (surprisingly) the 4200 was the better built, more reliable car...

    Dusk sensor?

Anyone know where the sensor is that doesn't let the dash lights come on when you turn the sidelights on if its not actually completely dark? I am fed up with no instrument lights on gloomy days when you have the lights on- Can it be taped over??!!!

    Tpms?

Last night my "Flat tyre" warning light came on. This morning it has gone off but there are no tyre pressure readings, but no warnings to say the system is "unavailable". I have tried recalibrating it but no improvement. Any one had this? Car is 6 years old so I suspect TPMS sensor...

    Granturismo aircon hot?

I have established that the system is fully gassed and working, but only on manual "LOW" setting- lots of cold air through the vents at 6 deg C.......- But using the "Auto" or "Full auto" setting results in warm/hot air through the vents- i.e. if the interior of the car is say 20 deg C and...

"you can buy this Maserati for the price of a used Camry"

A view on the 4200 from a U.S. perspective- Some of the comments are amusing........... http://carbuying.jalopnik.com/you-can-buy-this-sexy-maserati-for-the-price-of-a-used-1680747695

    Granturismo whhel alignment- A warning!

My car has been off the road for 10 days following a botched alignment/geometry- caused by a national tyre company that does many Maseratis in my area and should know better. I have since become something of an unwilling "expert" on Maserati wheel alignment : In the hope that it doesn't happen...

Granturismo proving not as reliable as 4200

Having had my old 4200 for six years nothing EVER went wrong it (apart from rust of course) I was expecting my GranT to give similar levels of reliability but so far bit disapointing: It still has only 19,000 miles but....... 17,000 miles New engine mounts (vibration at idle) 19, 000...

    "Alarm unavailable"

    Maserati watch anyone?

Spotted this "New maserati collezione" in Stresa on lake Maggiore last week- actually considering the prices we pay for parts I dodn't think they were too badly priced at 200-600 euros......most were quite tasteful but a few of the gold ones were best suited to gold chained wearing Ferrari...

    Granturismo engine mounts....

Looks like these could be becoming a weak point on Gran T's.........Noticed a very slight vibration at idle recently on my low mileage (17k) Gt, noticably worse at around 1400rpm out of gear....correctly diagnosed by Giallo as engine mounts- apparantly these are fluid-filled unlike the...

    Motorail and Maserati alarms......Oh dear...

Don’t laugh please.... Put the GT on Dutch Motorail last week (it was a bit of a tight fit) down to Italy as I couldn’t be bothered to drone down the autoroutes all day again…. As I boarded the car onto the train, the loader told me not to put the alarm on- me thinking I knew better turned...
