Where are you based? I’m in search of a competent local specialist for smaller maintenance. My intention at this stage is to use Sports Italia for any bigger jobs as they seem to be highly recommended?
Just on the Cotswolds Edge.

Have used SI since they opened. Normally have the car transported down

One never knows what a ‘top bid’ might actually be in the heat of the moment!!!!

I only finally decided to bid late morning on Sunday and fully expected to lose out the car tbh. Time will tell if the car gods were smiling on me!
Time will tell eh?
A few of us on here have a pretty good idea about whether the car gods were smiling on you.
Of course they were.
You have a fabulous car.
But its not really a car, is it? Its a Maserati, and the ownership rules and expectations differ from those for cars. Your Maserati will need more or less continuous love and attention (stop me if you already understand this) but even then could sulk if you drive the other car too much and, indeed, could throw a screaming fit at almost no notice. You will need to be mindful of her.
Especially right now. Its winter. She won't like winter. Mediterranean temperament, you know.

Oh yes, I’ve no doubt ‘La Contessa’ (I wouldn’t dream of changing the name Chris has given her!) will both thrill and frustrate as all fine ladies do!

I’m some experience of ‘exotic motoring’ already via a close association with several Lotus cars from the 50’s and 60’s. Indeed my daughter’s middle name, Ella, is for our 1959 series 1 seven which my father has had for longer than he’s had me!!! My daily driver is somewhat left field as well so hopefully I’m as prepared as I can be.

Time will tell!

I’m very glad the car went to someone who clearly loves cars!! Erling and his father are really wonderful people, and I hope La Contessa continues to give pleasure to Erling and his family without costing them £3K/year on average as she cost me. Mind you, it was on this forum where I was told to expect £3K/year to keep her on the road, and this proved to be entirely correct!!

Erling, as I believe most of the major issues were tackled by me, I hope all future repairs are cheap ones. I look forward to seeing La Contessa again soon ;)

Take care,

~Chris

Hey guys! I will eventually get either a 4.7QP or an Aston Rapide when finances allow. For now, I’m being a boring old fart, and enjoying open top motoring in a (gulp! Don’t hate me!!) BMW 640i Cabrio! I had driven a friend’s one about 3 years ago and was surprised how much I liked it!!

Yes, it doesn’t sound very good, but at 61 years old, I could do with a little less noise, and a little more comfort now ‍♂️ I must be old because my favourite feature of the car is its heated steering wheel!!!

Cheers

Hi,
I just bought a 1962 Sebring (101.01505) and I would like to find a article that was published in MCI magazine at the end of 2012 pointing out the differences in the Sebring during the production period.
I think this car is number 8 produced and has different details than the later ones, wooden dashboard, chrome line on the side of the doors, raised trunk, etc. and I would like to know if all of this is original.
Thank you

So far, so good @ChrisNico though I’m no doubt tempting fate!!!

Always nice to buy a great car from a great guy. Can’t help but agree with @Ebenezer though, a Maserati suits you very well. Though I also can see you in an Aston.

Hi Chris

I'm selling a ulez compliant 4.7 at the moment (there's a thread on here and a pistonheads ad)

I would be happy to have a conversation with you about a part ex for your 640i.

Refusal will not offend. But you sound a lovely chap and if we could mutually benefit then I'd love to try. If not, enjoy the wind in your hair as spring approaches!

Do let me know

Oh and sorry, to be clear I'm a person not a trader

So when I say "part ex" I'm talking about private sale value, not trade value

For example if your 640i is worth £10,000 (just for ease, ive no idea what it would actually be worth without more info) as a private sale, and we agreed a price for my QP at £16,000 the deal would be your car plus £6,000. As an example

I would not try to profit off your car like a trader would, I'm talking a fair and mutually beneficial transaction. A swap with cash to balance the difference

Best wishes

James

Hi Chris, nothing wrong with a 640i. Great daily cars and really good value for money these days.

Hi James. Your QP looks wonderful, and it’s a tempting offer, but I plan on keeping the BMW as my daily (my lady loves open top motoring now!). If finances allow, in about a year, I would be adding a QP or Aston, but I cannot do anything at the moment, sadly. I’m sure your beautifully kept QP will find a good home soon ;)

Good luck,

~Chris

Ha no problem! I did notice we appear to have similar taste in interiors

You never know, slow market, it might still be waiting for you!!
