Do many people have All Season Tyres? I'll be honest and say I'd never come across them before. I was aware of Winter tyres being a thing but didn't appreciate that the tyres I've had on every other car are now called Summer tyres, even though most people only ever use these.

My fronts need replacing but my rears aren't too bad. If I go to All Seasons then I need to replace 4 tyres but I'm in Cumbria and it's not a fluke that we have all those lakes. Do I spend over double the amount I really need to in order to have All Seasons or do I just get some decent "summers" on the front and replace the rears when they need it?

Depends on the weather tbh and how you use the car (and where).

Winter tyres are great with close to zero and sub zero temps. All season will give you best of both worlds but they are pricey and could be noisy etc (same as winters).

Summer’s offer best grip and speed index but they ought to be used at optimum temp (not great for winter). As QP is a rwd car with focus on drive ability i’d stick with best summer tyres and use the car cautiously if need be during winter.

Hope that helps!

Mine is actually a Diesel Ghibli, I just jumped on this thread, rather than start another similar one. It's a daily driver, doing 15-20k per year.

I have all seasons on the front of mine. Couldn't get the for the back, and frankly it shows. I've had all seasons my Jags and Mrs C has them on her Giulietta. They can make quite a difference in the cold. IMHO

Yeah, everything I've read says you shouldn't mix them.....like that old advert on the telly about mixing your crossply's and your radials. (reference for the kids there)

Really? I didn't find anything to indicate there would be an issue (apart from the obivous that the rear has different traction than the front, which is always the case with staggered set ups anyway)

However, if you're not happy to mix, you might have an issue. 20" wheels per the Ghibli S there's nothing for the rears

I'm on tiny little 19" wheels, so I can get them, however it seems a shame to my tight brain to replace the rears that don't need replaced yet but given it rains here 360 days of the year, and only snows once every 5 years, they do seem a good idea.

I run all season on both our ‘normal cars’ and wouldn’t go back. For me on performance cars it doesn’t make sense though so I’m going to be winter November to mid late March (what that car came with) and Michelin ‘summer’ tyres come spring.

I’ve used all seasons tyres before and yes they are noisier and not really suitable for high performance cars despite what they say makes the car much less responsive. if it were me, I would avoid Pirelli’s which work better in higher temperatures and probably go for something like Michelin PS5 or Continental sportcontacts 7

I put winter tyres on the GFs Mini every November to March as well as on the XC90. I don't do it for snow it is down to the significant additional grip in cold conditions and water displacement which is more important than thier ability to handle the white stuff

We have a holiday home on the hills above Bampton in the Lakes and without the winters on the XC90 we would have been snowed in last Tuesday/Wednesday... Always have to laugh at the dopes in thier silly 2WD SUVs sliding on a tiny gradient on summer tyres whilst Charlotte passes them in the Mini.

We normally get 5 to 6 years out of the winters and get them swapped over at the local tyre place for £60 per car.

The Maseratis and SLC are put to bed I winter.

I've got 21s on my ghibli d and put winters on every winter. You can't get all season for the 21s so not really.an option.
You shouldn't mix summer / all season / winter.
