I dont see why they would not be the same really, i was quite impressed with how quick the GS changes cogs, especially in sport mode, not sure why so many journo's slated the gearbox.

Aren't CC/F1 just different names for the same thing?

Spot on Ian , cambiocorsa and i hope Enzo backs me up is Italian for fast or quick change , all the working components are the same just the software that operates them is different as i understand it

Because, like Clarkson, a lot of them were t0ssers who didn't know how to use them properly. The CC still benefits from DBW which speeds them up even more.

I thought they were the same but I wasn't 100% sure, but thanks for confirming it Loz. And Enzo!

GS change is a pretty slow change to be honest....There is a long throw on the paddle and it doesn't seem to engage that quick.....Its not bad but just going on others paddles I've driven...Its a lazy change rather than an agressive change.....Noting wrong with that mind just my views after driving a number of GS and 4200.....Mind you the GS was a better than the 4200 change.

I found when the GS was in sport, it changed pretty violently.

Keeping your foot to the floor and changing up , can be quite (violent )as you put it Adam, but thats not the best way to achieve the fastest and smoothest results , there is a very progressive way of changing gear by slight right foot manipulation coupled with the correct timing when changing gear , believe me there's a vast difference

You've driven a GS!??

Personally, I like it. I uded to have the SMG2 in my M3 and lked the fact you could adjust it. My GS does feel a little lazy, but I reckon (digging the memory banks here) that non-sport is like 2 on SMG, sport is more like 4. SMG in 5 or even the hidden 6th setting was pretty violent! Great though, when you were in the mood.
