3200 overheat. Fan not working?

Problems seem to come one after one these days....
This morning i was stuck in slow traffic for 15 minutes, the coolant temperature indicated on the dial in dashboard show above 90 deg C. In the past it has always sat at 90 deg maximum.
Tonight I checked again with android "torque", the temp is 99degree C at idle when i rev the engine.
I suspect the low speed fan is not working, i remember hearing the whirring noise of it during engine start in the past, but no more today. How can i tell is that fan defective? The high speed (right one from the front) is working as i can see it spins, but not the left one.

Fuses for both fans are intact, havent tried swapping the relay yet as i havent a suitable tool to pull it out from the socket, too tightly tugged in. Coolant level is normal too. Any thoughts please?

On my 3200 the fast speed only operates when the air con is switched on...

Try putting 12 volts directly to the fan motor and see what happens

Try the fan resistor - it's a small box accessible from under the car - only two scews hold it onto the radiator it was not to expensive from eurospares - sorted out the exact same problem for me

Resistor was replaced this month. Everything worked ok for a while until yesterday. I will check if its still in place.
Regarding putting 12v to the motor, may you point out where is the lead? Is it the connector on top of the radiator housing?
Thanks alfatwo, Masser.

Check they have not put the two wires to the fan resistor on the wrong way round.

Agreed, 12v across the fan motor is a good idea.

I have checked, the low speed fan doesnt work anymore. May I know does anyone of us know where can i get a replacement fan? Instead of the whole cooling fan unit? Eurospares doesnt seem to sell the fan separately.
Thanks!
