3200 x PIPE

Hi a up-date on my DIY x pipe project. I used the car for Silverstone after I had removed the contents of the centre box but was not 100% happy with it as my welding skill are not fantastic so I removed the exhaust again and had a welding fabricator cut the entire box out and replace it with two lengths of exhaust. The lad did a fantastic job, not even a small leak could be found when I fitted it back to the car. He did say it was tricky to weld as it was not steel or stainless but some other metal but I think he used a Tig Welder. The sound is much much better now, it sounds like a GT car with a v8 in it should from outside but not much louder form inside and no droning. The other problem I had was my alternator would start to charge at 15-16volts and put the red light on the gauge a few times. It only over charged for a minute or so but with the Le-Mans trip only a short time away I removed it and had it checked. The Auto-Electrician said on the test bench it was fine but replaced the resistor and bushes just in case. I have It back on the engine now and just need to put all the pipes and covers back that needed to come off to remove it. I also fitted a Becker Traffic Pro Nav unit as I had the older Becker radio/cassette/multi changer in mine. I did a lambda reading on the car when I put the exhaust back on and it was fine. I will try and up-load a video of the sound when I finish re-fitting the alternator.
Any body going to Le-Mans this year??? I cant wait, even more so now I have my exhaust done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think i will open the central box , wash iner system, and replace all burned isolator.
