Chaps, getting around to fault finding a few little annoying problems on my AC. The **** boot release button has never worked, have checked a few things and can hear a relay "click" when glovebox button pushed but solenoid motor not activated. Checked solenoid with probe 12v input from another power source and pulls plunger in but it doesn't return back out again. If boot closed in this state boot won't lock without adjusting solenoid plunger back out to allow lock mechanism to lock. Boot can then be unlocked using key only. Is there a common part that fails causing problem? Checked all fuses/relays that I can see as per owner manual.

Alarm.............never worked either! Recently fitted good used siren that "chirped" when connected but can't get the thing to go off when activated with key fob by locking car and trying to open doors????? Any clues from owners with similar problems?

Many thanks,

T

Hmm. The boot one sounds odd. First place to check will be the cables in the flexible conduit between the body and the trunk lid. Once you can get the solenoid to fire on the glove box button you'll be in a better place.

As for the alarm. I assume you're unlocking the doors manually and opening them? Do the hazard lights go off at all?

The siren never worked on mine either, locked OK, and lights etc. Flashed. Personally I was glad, I have had them go off and unable to stop them.

Don't forget the boot and fuel flap only work when the ignition is switched off!

Regarding the siren/alarm you can switch it off or on, Its all explained in the hand book

Dave, have a used one from DA and it does the same thing pulls in but doesn't return to reset lock. It's been played with by previous owner so trying to find out if missing any parts ie return spring, the parts manual is vague doesn't show all parts solenoid/cables missing! Trying to figure this out is tricky due to number of parts in system! Need to get pwr to solenoid from push button as C has said.

Yes agreed with boot issue C, can here a click in boot when button pressed so need another person to push button for me..........what are you doing later? :D

Keyless central locking works fine lights flash just no siren noise I'll check manual to see if I can switch it on! Is it meant to chirp when car locked/unlocked or just go off when attempted break in?

LOL
Assuming the boot lock is like the 4200 it won't return after the solenoid fires. It needs to be 'locked' as it were, but closing the boot, or using a screwdriver / similar. This threw me initially when I fitted the remote release on my 4200.

All, I have just solved a similar problem on my 2009 QP. My electronic boot release stopped working as did the key fob and dash release button after jamming a cleaning cloth between the lid and seal when closing it. So having checked out another forum in the US, I tried this:- Insert the ignition key into the manual release lock on the boot lid. Turn it as far as you can go and hold this position while simultaneously pressing the electronic release button also on the lid. This resets the selonoid on the lock mechanism and you can hear this by the selonoid suddenly bursting into life again. It should then work normally. My QP is now working perfectly again and it took less than 30 seconds to do this. Hope this helps,

Gents, just having similar problems myself, at almost £300 for a new one, I have had a play with mine. It returns when a voltage is applied across it but will not return. When it was on the car, the boot would not close, so it will jot return, the key will also not turn in the lock...any suggestions..Appreciate any help

2009 QP may be different to 2001 3200 but worth a try! My fob operates fine just boot release not working from button in glove box. There are a number of relays that operate these things, still a work in progress.

Exact same issue with my AC..............worked out that lock latch mechanism (not key lock) needs to be "reset" after unlocking. If latch dirty/sticky it will jamn, lubricate with spray. Also found position of solenoid can prevent latch resetting. This can be done by removing boot lid mould and removing latch assy and pushing left side of latch to the left, should hear a click and it should lock in place. This resets it so lid can be closed and it will lock. Make sure the key opening cable between latch and lock connected in place or you won't open boot! I now have mine closing, locking and manually open with key just need to get solenoid firing o_O

All fixed, well the boot is anyway. Turns out everything is working as it should but when connected together it didn’t work. Some minor fettling, slight adjustment and the boot release works. I think over time, things have worn, loosened slightly and and just needed minor adjustment.
Thanks for all the advice gents, much appreciated. Just saved myself £300. Whoop whoop.

Good news............now I need to get mine working! Would really appreciate a pic of cable where cable can be adjusted at lock and where it attaches to latch. Trying to make sure it hasn't been tampered with by previous owner? Cheers
