In that case just might beg the question , its a yank related problem , over weight handfisted fingers like hotdogs and as much finnesse as a blind one legged donkey springs to mind Frank .and that was just off the tip of my tongue , give me five and i'll put some proper thought into the equation , tell you what , wait till tomorrow we'll have breafast meet brainstorming session followed by a video conference with the office next door , if you get my drift

I'd put it down to the quaint USA custom of valet parking of prestige cars...........................all it takes is one hefty YANK ( pun intended) and its bust!!!!!!

From a 4200 perspective there's a screw underneath that can come loose and then fall out, leaving you with an unbroken lever in your hand. You just need to get into the centre console to refit it.
