4200 Electric seats - random behavior

Hello all

The electric seats of my 4200 are unpredictible.
When I toggle them after accessing rear seats they sometimes :
- get back to their normal position
- get back to a random position
- do not get back

The car is used every few weeks, so I generally disconnect the battery.. May have an impact ?

Any idea of where to look at first ?
Or should I just accept the uncertainty of Italian electronics :)

Seat reset procedure
Do this on both seats.
Open door
Forward
Back
Forward
Back
Tilt the seat right forward.

Do it within 10 seconds of opening the door, and the seat should go through its full range of motion and then go back to your stored position.

Takes a bit of practice but might well help

My drivers seat does this. I've done both types of resets on both seats numerous times. The drivers seat either works, doesn't work, or it goes forward about an inch and then straight back.

After the reset it all works for 1 or 2 times and then returns to it's random behaviour. I'm thinking I will require a new seat Ecu at some point in the future.

I was recently told by someone in the know that when they are working and you need to tilt them forward, you must allow them to complete the full forward then back cycle and this shouldn't be interrupted.

Parptoot,

I think you are correct there. I always tell my other half to let it go fully forward before tilting the seat back into the upright position. Her side is fine though and It's my side that cracks it's own detail. I will have to further investigate. Mmmmmm?

What gets me is that Maserati knew about this issue from the start and put the seat reset procedure in the manual.

And yes you do have to wait for the seat to go through its full cycle before getting in, from memory it beeps when it's ready.

I've never been able to get this to work and it may not be related but I have to adjust the drivers door mirror every time I drive the car

Hi Tony. Long time.

It takes a bit of a knack. Or it may just be that your ECU is rogered. There's also the possibility that the connectors of the control unit are fouling on the carpet.

The more I read about the Coupe seats the less I think fitting the set I have spare in to my Spyder is a good idea. I have none of these issues with the Spyder seats.

Maybe I should sell on the Coupe seats I have - time to think

What colour are they?

I always thought the coupe and Spyder seats were the same

Thanks Chris, I'll ask Garry Tait at Gt Autos to check it out next time I'm over there
