Great cars in their day though. I only ever had one; a Sierra 2.8 injection 4X4 estate. Only had it for 2 years and had 5 gearboxes in it. Wouldn't have another.

Double declutching / blipping on the downshift goes wrong? Or ... it was just a 90's Ford?

I've got to say, they've come along way. I rate the Focus for an everyday small runaround. I've never had one myself, but a number of my friends did for years without anything serious going wrong, enjoying a comfortable drive, a good viewing area, a decent shift dependent on engine size, and a very easy clutch and gearbox.

I always used to double declutch because that was how I was taught in the scuffers. Just a series of sh!t boxes; 2 failed straight from the reconditioners, one after the other!

Had a Janspeed turbo converted XR4i - I then understood why the cosworth needed the dinner table on the boot. Above about 110mph the back end would start to rise up and shake alarmingly just due to the aerodynamics. Great car but silly power for the day. I had an XR4x4 as well and I'm not sure I've driven anything since that was quite so much fun in damp/wet conditions - really well sorted day to day suspension. Not a race car but even I felt like a driving god in it.

I think things have moved on a little in the intervening years! Anyway, good to see you are still around; I've been past your place a couple times recently and not seen your car. Have you moved?

Yup - moved a few weeks ago, but only a mile across town so you'll still see the red skip trawling round - new place has room for garages & workshops so I can actually sort out the car(s) properly - but need to get the house sorted first so may be a while yet.

No don't really do much TVR'ing, no real reason just never did. Very occasionally I'll go on PH to see what's going on. Don't go to the local meet.
Well there's moisture and there's damp which creates rust and bubble keeps the air at the right humidity. Massive difference on the break discs in and out of the bubble, even though the garage is sound. I also put a old rad in there when it gets really cold.

Are you fairly involved with TVR clubs then as well as here?

Just a thought - doesn't moisture in the air help to keep everything rubber (tyres, seals, hoses) in good order and stop it from drying out? Happy to be wrong, but just wondered.
