Good evening, im on my 3rd week ownership of a QP V and still learning it.

I had a quiet drive yesterday and noticed that on occasions i had a somekind of humidity burst in the cabin, effectively making it impossible to see through any of the windows. No idea what this could be or if someone has experienced similarly.

Anyone knows of an aircon specialist in sw london /surrey area that i could visit?

Thanks

George

Hi George

For it to mist up that quickly while your driving suggests water is getting in somewhere and its then misting as the car heats up.

Is the pollen filter/cabin filter dry ? Just thinking out loud if rain water is collecting somwhere on the car or drainage chanels and then finding its way to the pollen filter/ cabin filter once the car is moving would cause the problem your having.

I think the QP filter is under the glove box. Im sure another QP owner can confirm.

If the aircon is working and still getting cold then i doubt its the aircon at fault.

Heater matrix leaking would be another possability. Check the front footwells to see if the carpets show any signs of damp. Check the coolant level under the bonnet. If its a leak from the heater matrix or associated pipework then the coolant level will start dropping.

It doesnt take much water inside the cabin once its warm to mist up the windows greater than the aircon can deal with quickly.

Congrats on the QP V a lovely iteration of the marque - it maybe a simple case of RTFM

Im not sure how reading the manual is going to help with what the OP is describing. Its not how to opetate the aircon he is looking for. Its suggestions and likely causes of the sudden change of humidity while driving.

George,

Generally, the folk on this forum are very helpful people - I'm sure a QP V owner will come along soon and give you a couple of pointers. Enjoy your car.

Thank you, I looked at the service history and the anti-pollen filter was changed a couple of years / 2k miles ago. So that might be due while the aircon was re-gassed last summer. I will try to see if i can access it. In general the car is kept under cover and used over the weekend, so it is fairly dry. I will keep you posted what i find.

No problem at all. Im fairly sure there is a panel under the glove box to access the pollen/cabin filter.

Hopefully somebody with a QP will pick up on the thread and confirm or correct me on the exact location.

George, the filter is under the glovebox and you can get to it via the passenger footwell, there is a little tab you have to shift to the side and than you can get the filter out. You can get a new filter at a dealer, or look on ebay or amazon for the denso dcf135k for about £25 including shipping. You might also want to empty one of those aircon cleaner deodorant type can's in there when the filter is out, so it'll smell fresh as well.
Other tip, clean your window on the inside especially at the sensors behind the rear view mirror and clean the sensor as well. The car sees the windows fogging up and starts the aircon/blower to de-mist, and normally kicks in when you just start noticing the car fogging-up (a bit to late if you ask me, but my alfa 156 had exactly the same slow responding system when the car was brand new, so it is normal).
