I always wondered how Carmelo and co managed. The prices of the Masers were usually at least a couple of grand higher than they should have been.

I was never a fan of his cars to be honest .... Looked at a few there in the past but walked away each time.......I know I said before but offered me a blue 3200 witrh a cracked windscreen. Car was a few K higher than most and he wanted me to fix the crack on my insurance if I bought the car...!!!!!!!....Never went back after that one.

I can see the logic there Andy, £50 on insurance or £2k for him but even still he could have said something like I will give you a further £250 off the price we agree if you replace the screen on your insurance?

Seen their cars over the years but never had any dealings with them.

On a plus point I beleive Charlie did the spanner work on their cars and he is very well regarded.

Alfanet Ltd and Alfanet Services Ltd were 2 different companies. Carmelo had the first and Duncan Slade ran the second - although they cooperated pretty closely.

TBH although I recognise the comments above, I bought my 3200 from Carmelo in 2006 and it was about 4k cheaper than Modena's examples with a lower mileage and in better condition. I thought he was a good guy who had some interesting cars but didn't have the profile to shift the cars quickly enough and so he was always chasing prices because of depreciation.

Duncan, on the other hand, was always flat-out busy and had a very good reputation in the Alfa community, so I'm surprised he's dissolved his company. He ran it for many years as a sole trader, so maybe he's converting back to that? He's always serviced my car and I would recommend him unreservedly, I think I'll give him a call to find out.

Thanks for clearing that up. I have been trying to access the sales garages web site but it appears to be off line and has been for a few weeks.

I bought my first 4200 from nimble and was pleased with the car which prior to his sale had been with the main dealers all its life.

I don't know for sure as I've not been there but I think Carmelo has set up another company called Sportslex Ltd - too new to know whether it's trading yet.
