...and a quick engine question

Yep, more "Newbie" questions... :)

The "gold foil" that covers the main engine block. A car I am looking at has tears and small gaps in the gold material. Is it straight forward to replace this? (I'm guessing it is) and is the fact that it is perishing a cause for concern?

Any advice welcome

Do you mean the inlet manifold? Do you have a picture?

If it’s the yellowish bit in the middle of the engine, it’s the manifold and the coating is wrinkle paint. There are few options other than repainting it, and the colour is very hard to match. A few have just gone for a different colour instead.

Thanks Zep! Is it an issue beyond the cosmetic appearance?

No. It’s just doesn’t look very nice, but makes no difference at all.

We have spent a lot of time matching the colour for the cringe powder coat but to date nobody has got close enough.
