Some may not like the wooden steering wheel and light interior on a GTS but what a beautiful think for just under 27k. The QP GTS 4.7 must be the best Maserati you can buy at this price point. Always has been Maserati's best kept secret.

Nice and you are right - less than 65 left so it is a hidden classic - but mine was better!

Anecdotal evidence suggests that serious QP 4.7GTS buyers are quite discerning and will wait for the ideal colour specs. If this one is your colour then a good buy if it is sub 25k. Black or grey seem to command better prices perhaps?

Another just came up. This one was for sale a month or so ago so maybe didn’t sell. Silver just under 50k on the clock and 26.5k. Would it concern you though buying a car like this from a dealer who’s most expensive car is under 6k.

And if you want black there is this one. Price has dropped for 30k to 27995.

I’ll be listing one with 32k on it next week when it’s been serviced and inspected. Also a 2011/60 post variator modification car.

Blue one for me to. But I'd prefer it with carbon interior instead of wood, and some alcantara inserts.

But the biggest problem (for me) with these is the boring auto box and the blobby rear valence and aftermarket looking exhaust tips.

Yes I agree about that rear. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but something wasn't right.

Might have to look at a GT S MC or Stradale. I prefer the original QPV rather than the facelift for sure. However the 4.2 QPV is just a bit too big/heavy for that 395bhp. Needs that 450 or ideally 500 to get the best out of it. I'm a year or so off getting back into one unless a silly deal lands in my lap.

What's the consensus in terms of a 4.2 GTS vs 4.7 GTS? Is the latter the one to have? Just asking as I like the look of the older car but feel that you'd maybe be missing out with the smaller and less powerful engine.

Nail on the head. The older car is prettier but the 4.7 is the better car to drive from what I can gather.

Thanks Andy, I was hoping that wasn't the case from a price perspective...I'll maybe just try to avoid Dicky's website for the next week or so. :)

The QP GTS 4.7 is seriously good. That it can be bought for between £25-30k (albeit an older higher miler version) is frankly just great news

The 4.7 has the better engine - more power, more torque, more noise. The 4.2 has the better looks. But both, for me, are let down by the boring auto gearbox.

The later costs about £5k more. So, do you save some money and get the prettier car, or splash the cash for aural pleasure?

I can only speak for myself but I much prefer the looks and the driving characteristics of the 4.7 Sport GT S to the pre facelift model.
I do not find the rear of the car or the exhausts ugly or aftermarket and I do not find the gearbox anything but delightful especially when using the huge paddles but the world would be much more boring if we all agreed on everything.

I think the gearbox is pretty good too - use the paddles a lot of the time. The gear shift in sports mode is spot on. However there are times I like to drive in normal mode as sports mode is loud and sometimes I want to be a bit more discreet. Would be good to have the option of the more aggressive gear change in both modes.
