Another one bites the dust!

Seems I have become the latest victim of a premature collapsed pressure plate! Driving along in 1st today, gave it a bit of right foot and shifted to 2nd and there was a bang followed by slipping clutch. It now slips really badly as I pull away and then the clutch comes in with a thud and I get full drive again, until I change up and the same thing happens, it slips for while and then thud! No error lights showing at all.
It has only done 15k miles since being replaced, and Emblem inspected the car a month ago at which point the clutch reading was only 33% worn. Back to Emblem again then! I did follow Craigs clutch replacement how-to but I'm not that brave and hopefully it's covered by the warranty if it's the pressure plate that's failed.

These clutches really are a joke arnt they. Other than that these cars are bullet proof.

Just had confirmation from Emblem that it is the pressure plate. The second GS this week with the same problem apparently. These clutches are not good!
Good news is that as it's a failure rather than wear the warranty should cover most of the cost.

This should be something masrati it's self be addressing. As what looks like a failed piece of engineering. Or is this a case of clutch not being fitted properly

Alvin in Melbourne had 2 go, then with the help of his tuning specialist and Ferrari racing privateers found the clutch pressure plate from the F430 fits. Apparently it has wider fingers.
I mentioned this to my indi in Sydney who is a Ferrari trained mechanic. He grabbed both items from his stock and sure enough they match, though he said the F430 one was $700 more.
That's the path I'll be taking in the future.

Bruce

Update. Picked the car up from Emblem today all fixed and driving really nicely again. The ring that the tangs on the pressure plate are fixed to had cracked so half of them had dropped.

Dropped a message to Valeo today to see what they have to say about it. A word of warning to all of you out there with after-market warranties, after much arguing and an initial refusal to cover it at all, my warranty company finally covered half the cost. Not happy at all.
