Any solution for this/favour?

Hi Guys

Not sure what would be an economical solution for this...

There's a car I want (an MX5 not a Masser!) a few bits off, and then could give to a breaker/scrap it. It's worth about £700.

EDIT: It is not drive-able. Engine is knackered.

It's in Manchester but I'm in North London. So getting it trailered would make it uneconomical.

Not sure how else I can get the bits. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks
R

Go and take the bits off it that you want and get a local scrapper to take it off your hands then you don’t need to take the car anywhere.

If you can’t strip it yourself there then I’d put an advert on Shiply to see if someone will trailer it to you. If they can sort it as a return trip or something you’ll get it to you for around £250. I’d never use Shiply for a nice car but if it’s a scrapper it’ll be fine.

Yep, been looking at AnyVan and Shiply. But at that amount, it makes the value of it minimal, and then the hassle factor too much.

Oh well. Might have to wait and find something closer.

if you have a towing vehicle or a friend with one you could always look at hiring a car trailer and then its just your own time and some fuel, a days hire for a car trailer in my neck of the woods is £45

Last option sounds good, GT towing at Potters Bar/Hatfield (just along from the Cock-O’North pub will hire you a trailer for 36 hours for reasonable rates. Used them to collect the VW for Alex.

They won’t act for a car with no MOT, assuming it has no MOT. I found that out the hard way....

It has an MOT, found the ad.
Morally don't think I could do it though!
Saying that, the last time I used my RAC membership was back in 1991 when the cam belt snapped on my Lancia Y10 Turbo, so they have had my money over the years!!

would of thought it needs to be taxed as well if your gonna spin some sort of story of breaking down on a road legal car, but all sounds like a big gamble anyway, don't think RAC/AA are that stupid to swallow some bizarre story if it's not road legal :ohh:
