Somebody talk me out of it - Private seller, I think first owner, 2013, 21k on the clock, new PTU fitted at dealer. It would probably mean selling the QP and the 650i but then I would have space for a 70’s Spider…plus V12 and Ferrari itch gotten rid of…choices choices..

@outrun to the customer service desk, please, @outrun.

I've a feeling that 2014 onwards is the sweet spot. The learned Mr Oot Run will confirm.

Here I am.

Do it. You will utterly adore it and you won't lose much money.

They are mega, especially with some small additions from the likes of Capristo.

I had mine for 4 years, did around 15k miles and couldn't have been happier. Feel free to PM me and I can talk you through the ownership experience.

You won't regret it for a second.

I am so tempted, I was lucky enough to drive it on the track at Fiorano just after it came out in 2012 and I loved it then. The PTU problem put me off a bit but this one has a new one so as long as there was no other damage done that means one big item struck off. There are a few for sale here, mostly red and mostly with multiple owners but this one looked hopeful. I’ll have to check the states of the carbon ceramic disks as I can imagine those are pricey too. I’ll PM you.

Just Googled the PTU repair cost and it can be expensive for sure.
Back in 2012 when I had my 456 GTA there were many big bills in the history file and that car had only done 25,000 miles and the biggest bill £13,000.
My 360 Modena in 2014 gave me a £6,000 bill putting me on course for my second divorce spending my own money.
Ferrari's can cost you in my opinions but for myself no regrets at all.
Every Petrol head needs to scratch that itch.

There is a permanent PTU fix from a UK company. £20k I believe.
I personally have much want for an FF…

It's quite a lot less actually, around £9k. It's managed by Simon Furlonger but it's actually done by a machine shop just down the road from him.

Like all cars, they have their mechanical issues but of course, you only hear about the bad ones which inflates the issue. FChat have a great tracker on failures across the world and it's below 10% of the cars produced. Still too high, but better odds than roulette.

I am just back from a 2500 mile trip around Europe (Monaco Historic and Imols GP) in an FF and also happy to share my thoughts on PM. The car is a late 2014 so gen 2, which I think fixed a number of issues including the PTU. I found the car for my friend 3 years ago and it has barely depreciated though he has only covered about 6k miles in it. Glass roof makes the rear a much better place to be and enough headroom for 6 footers in the back. Carbon Ceramic discs are v expensive and the rears are used frequently for traction so have read of many being replaced pre 30k miles. I suspect many are replaced very early like all brakes when dealers are advising....

This FF talk got me looking on Autotrader. This is nice but quite a story (and a huge bill) behind it. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202405209909267
What a terrible story! But I don’t think many will touch this as sad as the story is - buying a 120k car with a rebuilt engine, even when done at a dealer, and even with warranty is still for the brave, especially considering it still needs to be run in..better options are available.

Over the years there have been numerous problems with liners (Nikasil and the like), DMF's, DPF's, PDK's, PTU's, ECU's, EMU's (there's a whole automotive lexicon dedicated to such problems) and I often wonder just how expert are the 'experts' when so-called 'advanced engineering' replaces tried and tested principles with disastrous results. Then some fool invents EV's...........
