Some of you will remember that I used this quote last year when I sold my fabulous 612 Ferrari. Funds were needed for more important things (school fees etc) and the 560 SEC went too. Well it has been an 'interesting' but unproductive year and regrettably I have now needed to sell my beautiful Rosso Mondial GranSport.
When I bought it from Richard Grace, he told me it was one of the best he had sold and that was a considerable percentage of those in the UK! No doubt this was helped by a visit to Lancaster Maserati every year for a service and anything else needed to keep it perfect and being garaged when not in dry weather use. The box file that came with it is full of expenditure despite having covered 26k miles. The plan was to keep it long term..... At least I have had a riotous 5k miles in it and it is certainly the best sports car I have owned (including the Strad). I've still got a couple of old Mercs and a 30 year old TVR to play with but being Maserless is not good!

Richard knew that I had continued to take good care of the car and offered me a very fair price. We met for a farewell lunch in Shropshire before he drove it back to Chester. He called to confirm it is the best in the UK to his knowledge, which doesn't help my disappointment and loss - "drives so smoothly, lovely ride quality, crisp gear change. Paintwork and interior are also superb. I can’t recall ever having driven a Gransport LE drives as well as this one". He sent me the advertisement photos yesterday. Thanks Richard but it is not helping.....

Anyway, I have decided on a career change and if it goes well I may get the man maths calculator out again and give Richard another call. I have decided to merge two great passions of mine producing high end bespoke automotive photography books. I am partnering with an incredibly talented team who are probably the best bespoke book makers in the world
https://www.bookedimages.com/car-photo-books/ The website is good but the finished products are amazing to behold. I have all the equipment I need and have brushed up on skills through training with a top UK photographer. My first couple of clients are delighted so fingers crossed there is sufficient demand.

I feel your pain, circumstances change and sometimes along the way there is great sadness but opportunities come up and new routes through life you hadn't planned appear. Focus on the future and new goals, it may be better than the past. You should never regret trying something new good luck.

PS It won't hang around long but that doesn't mean you can't hang around here with us other masserless members ;)

Thanks Andy. I am an eternal optimist and always look forward, whilst occasionally looking back at good memories. I do plan to stick around as this forum is refreshing thanks to some great contributors and it will kjeep my desire going to get another Maser at some point.

Life’s felt slightly precarious in the UK for a while now imo.
Ah well. It’s only a car man. There’ll be others.
Keep calm & carry on….

That is certainly a beautiful car and any future owner is bound to be delighted.

Good luck with the new venture, hopefully it’s will bring success and opportunity for future Maserati / Ferarri ownership.

This Photo reminds me that I want to get my wheels back to Grigio and to get a Larini Valved Back box :)

I still find the oblong exhaust tips a bit offensive...

Good Luck with your new venture :)
Thanks Angus, Richard has returned mine to std so give him a call or PM as they may be available. It also had a v nicely made x-pipe.

Chaps, thanks for all your messages of support. Most importantly, I am in good health, very happily married and have four wonderful children so a bit of financial constraint is really not so important in the big picture. The challenge I am sure many of us face is we don't know how long we need to sustain ourselves for! I am still hopeful another role in my industry may come up but being a mature white male can be challenging so I will explore photography and other things as necessary.
I really appreciate the kind messages and value the e-friendships formed here.
I plan to stay online and hopefully contribute to the forum and who knows, there may yet be another Maser in the future.....
