Bought another Italian car

Hi guys, thought I'd introduce myself. Ive just bought a Maserati Gransport to add to my other Italian cars (Ferrari 360 & Lamborghini Gallardo). Still learning the quirks of this car and have a few questions to ask, so please forgive a newbie if these are dumb questions:

Firstly, does the accelerator feel like an on/off switch on all these cars? First few millimetres of travel dont seem to do much at all and then suddenly the taps seem to open up and she thunders off like a rocket. The throttle pedal doesnt seem to have much progression and it's very tricky to take off smoothly. Is this normal?

Secondly the headlight (low beam) on the driver's side is blown. I've got a new one, but I'm trying to work out whether the old one just pulls out, or whether you've got to give it a quarter turn (I've taken the cap off and unplugged the wires). I'd rather not break it in the process of getting it out, so if someone can give me a simple direction on this I'd much appreciate it.

So anyways, to introduce myself, I'm Derek, I live in Brisbane, Australia, this is my first Maser and it joins my Ferrari, Lambo, Lotus Elise and TVR Tamora.

I look forward to hearing from someone helpful

Welcome.
peddle can be re set by carrying out a battery reset. Turn the knob above the battery and leave off for 15mins...However this may be how your clutch is set up.
No idea on the headlight bulb.

Welcome indeed. It may be there is something wrong with your throttle pedal. it should be quite progressive in my view - hopefully the reset will sort it for you. For the bulb, there is a spring retainer, push it and and move it to the side.

as far as i can remember the head lamp had a wire spring attached to in which you pinch and lever down . It is a fiddly job , i had to do it when i bought my 4200

And this is the new addition. Thanks for the welcome aboard guys. I'm still fiddling with the headlight - I'm sure it's a whole lot easier if you take the wheel off.........

Welcome, a fine collection...

Headlight is so much easier with the wheel off and the arch liner out or partially out, just remember to put an axle stand under or at very least the wheel as at 2 tonnes they will make you pretty squishy if they fall off a jack!

That is a nice colour. I like it. Do you rent out the cars as well?

As you nickname seems to suggest it?

The question is F360 or Gallardo? Be good to hear your opinion from a owner.

I would go Gallardo only as never been an fan of the 360 shape. Sure the 360 would be the better car though.

Gallardo for me. I prefer the lines over the somewhat boat like look of the 360. But there are some shared parts from the Audi A4 in the Gallardo interior which is a bit off putting

Would be the 360 for me. If my gs shot up in value id consider swapping. Looks like I'll be keeping the Maserati. And happy to do that as well.

And what a nice collection of cars you have

Thanks for all your help guys. I managed to sort out the headlight (you're right, it's a lot easier with the wheel off) and I've replaced the rear left shock absorber thanks to a unit supplied by one of the very helpful members on this forum. I believe most of my throttle issues are probably related to a very worn clutch, so that will be the next task. If anyone knows where I can get a complete clutch kit for a reasonable price I'd appreciate the feedback. The local dealer is charging just over $5k AUD for the clutch kit (complete with thrust bearing, etc), plus $2250 to fit. Not sure if this is a reasonable price, or not, but it's similar to what I'm paying to do the clutch on my Lambo

Hi 'hoyin', yes I rent out my cars. Check out our website (needs a bit of work at the moment); www.rentadreamcar.com.au

Oh, and Ferrari is the answer. When I first bought the Lambo I was in awe of it, but it's hard work, awful to drive around town and rather unreliable. It's a 2004 - one of the first Gallardos. The Ferrari is much nicer to drive, better balanced, more comfortable, more user friendly and I actually like the sound better. Unless you really want a car just to show off, buy a Ferrari.
