Bought this for Mrs MAF:

Stole it from the owner - Stunning condition, electric everything, full leather, almost complete service history from new. Just drove it back over 100 miles with the hood down on the motorway. Whisper quiet V6, enough torque to hustle along at motorway+ speeds with no drama, a really nice waft-mobile for the summer. You won't believe what I paid for her!

Oh, and my new plate for the Alfa arrived today. Only those who know my surname will understand. I suppose that's why they're called personalised plates!

A very good day, now relaxing with cold beer in hand.

Mark if you changed your Giallo Maser for a white one your cars would form the Italian flag....

Any particular reason you swopped the BMW for the Audi? Both medium sized 4 seat convertibles.

I sold the BMW as I hardly used it. It was a project when I bought it 5 years ago and I pretty much rebuilt the whole car. I think I enjoyed the building more than driving the finished article.
The night before the BMW was collected I was browsing a car website (as I'm sure many/most of us do!) and spotted the Audi as it was such a striking colour and was in such nice condition. Mrs MAF decided she might like it and asked if we could view. Within less than 24 hours she's the proud new owner (or am I because I paid??!) and the car now sits outside waiting to be driven on lots of sunny days. I think it's called an impulse purchase!

I'm stunned at the condition of this car, so much car for the money.

Mind any convertible in good condition is a classic once it's over, say, 20 years old. They are what the market wants, tend to be garaged and driven less than their coupe donor cars which are largely scrapped by that age.

E30 looked great, must have been worth way more than the Audi!

I'd got the BMW up to a really high standard, so didn't really have any more I could do. Sold her for quite a few times what I paid for the Audi.

Hadn't realised the Golf has gone, Peter. Thought that was a keeper. I paid £1,350 for the Audi - a ridiculously low price for a car that cost £30k in 1998. The condition, spec and provenance is incredible for throw-away money. I reckon these cars have hit their bottom value (much like the E30 a few years before it) and decent examples will start to increase a little. I'm certain I can't lose a penny on it!
