Cartier Clock?

Hi Guys,
The November issue of Auto Italia has a review of owning a Maserati Spyder, the De Tomaso generation one.
It mentions on page 56 these cars came with a Cartier clock and a Nardi steering wheel.
As the clock looks the same as in my GS, is it a Cartier?

Well, I heard this but one tap of the glass cover to find it was cheap plastic, made realise what I had was an accountants cost cutting version, so sadly not in our modern cars I feel :(

I chuckled to myself when a family piled into a new Ghibli at Carfest, one guy made the comment about the clock being a Cartier...:lol2:

Back in the day maybe they were but as others have said, not in the last 20 years!

Well, I know the prices for one new or used would have you think so but when I had the entire dash apart it would seem to me the profit margins are severely in their favor. No expensive clock there my friend.

doesn't it just. have always like the spyder and this one looks the biz with the 2 tone interior and very tidy looking. price seems too cheap to me though........maybe the cartier is not working?:saifi3:

Especially compared to other convertibles of the period.

Thanks Guys,
It's Christmas morning here and I'm waiting on the household to wake.
On the topic of keeping time, just like a big kid I'm dying to open my Maserati watch present that I know Santa (me) organised.
Have a great and safe Christmas everyone and I hope Santa was equally kind with Maserati gifts to you all.

I'm rather hoping Santa will bring me something similar. But I have *not* checked my wish list to see :)

And there's a big flat present under the tree. Whichever one it was it'll be *brill* :)

I think the steering wheel was a Nardi one back then...Not sure about the clock though.

The gold clock on the 1980/90's Maserati was made by the Swiss manufacturer Lasalle, not Cartier. But from the 3200 onwards, nothing so posh I'm afraid.

They stopped using the Lasalle clock on the QP IV Evo, replacing it with a cheap plastic silver trident motif. Naturally I've had a gold Lasalle clock retrospectively fitted, which looks far smarter.

Thanks Ewan,
Do you think a Gold plated Lasalle clock could be fitted to a GS too?

I doubt it. On the QP (and all bi-turbo variants) it goes on to a virtually flat wooden dash facia. On the GS you have a padded dash, so I can't see it fitting properly. Also, in my opinion, it might look a bit old fashioned and out of context, given the style of the GS and it's polished carbon bits.
