I’ve bought from them before. If you win the auction you can go and have a proper look and reject it if you want.

It won’t be a bargain per say, there will be something wrong, so it’ll probably be correctly priced. You just need to work out your costs.

They’re pretty open about where they get their cars and their business model.

Luke there is an honest enough bloke and won’t dick you around if you turn up and decide you don’t want the car.

You just need to go in with your eyes open and realise that these are cars that a normal dealer wouldn’t sell.

I bought a car from them before - I was suspicious, but they are quite open with what they do - the deposit secures the car, you visit, I asked how long I could take the car for a test drive - the reply was, we close at 5, just have it back by then!

They resell auction cars for a bit of profit, so its an auction where you get to reject the car once you've actually had a good poke around. I expect there are plenty of duff cars, but also some jems - that one 'looks' good...

They had some nice cars, when I was there I was very tempted with a big white Bentley Arnarge that looked rather good

I did travel to check a car over a couple of years ago and couldn't walk away from it quick enough, all the photos are always from the auction site and what seems like cars still waiting to go through, always wondered if they advertise them before they go through??, are they really without reserve and do they let a car go at a loss if it doesn't make a profit??

Probably plenty of shill bidding when you see cars that are repeatedly listed and "sold" and reached very similar prices each time. But they are what they are and the feedback, including mine where I bought a car that I returned, is good because I think it is a fairly genuine business model and purchasing experience. The advantage over BCA is the chance to get down there early and take the car for a long test-drive and PPI; Dick Lovett for a Maserati, RPM Technik for a Porsche are both within a driveable timescale if there are no issues on the roads.

I would not discount them but it is unlikely you will score a car that does not require work.

who actually insures the cars for the unacompanied "take as long as you like" test drives?

You are responsible for insuring the car... I took out a day insurance policy when I went to view the car...

As with any auction stock, none of the cars are likely to be perfect, but you can end up with a car that is cheap enough that it can be put right and still save - as dgmx5 says, your more than welcome to drive a car to a dealer for a PPI, if it's not for you, then just take the car back and they refund your deposit...

I have no vested interest in the company, but have had used them once and ended up with a perfectly decent runaround that was a couple of grand under what it should have been.

that's fair enough, I suppose if it's at an absolute bargain basement price then it may be worth the gamble on a basic run-around, not sure about anything like a higher end motor with loads of electronics, I know a couple of years ago they were saying that all cars were being sold under the "spares or repair" banner, presumably to avoid any liability on anyone coming back at a later stage with problems?

It went for £9450! So that's about 4k left to make it good! I know these cars can be money pits, but a one owner, full maserati dealer history car... how bad could it be! I'd love to actually see that car!
