Classiche Programme - The Ghibli Goes To Modena

Well, I've decided to use this post to record the trip from the UK to Modena in May. The Classiche Programme precertification form has been completed and the appraisal booked at the Maserati factory for Monday May 6th to Friday May 10th. My wife and I will take 4 days to drive to Modena and 4 days to drive back, driving for anything from 3.5 to 5.5 hours a day, plus time for breaks. I'm going to try LeShuttle to get us to France and back.

It's a trip I haven’t done before, in fact I've never driven in Europe, so I've spent a fair bit of time checking what I need and pulling it all together. From the specialised breakdown/driving kits (including red emergency triangle, yellow hi-vis vests, breathalysers, spare bulbs, etc. etc.) to the oval magnetic UK badge for the boot and smaller UK stickers for the edge of number plates.

Got a decent sat nav, mount, and have pre-booked hotels, so we have a destination each day - plus parking has been arranged with each. Even though it'll just be 1 night at each hotel on the way there and back, I want to know the car will be parked up safely.

The car had a service and MOT at Emblem end of July last year, and has had little use since apart from a couple of shows and the odd Sunday spin, tyres have loads of life. I toyed with the idea of getting a pre-trip check done but with my current work schedule I'm not sure that's even possible.

Below are some of the pics I had to take to complete the precertification form:

I'll use this post/thread for updates enroute, as Wi-Fi allows! Including the Classiche Programme process and any findings for the car.

Having done that trip many a time I hope you find the journey well and arrive safe and on time , take out the best AA type cover you can just for those unforeseen instances , Ive had the misfortune to have a blow out in France and with no spare and availability of getting the tyre replaced in any reasonable time for the weekend Jolly we had to abort and get uplifted home so be prepared for all eventualities. Hope the car does you proud, it certainly looks the part
