What I'm trying first, but because it's padded it doesn't provide a rigid foundation for either video recording, or touch control

As above, I suspect. Also a bit tiny for a 10.7" screen, but I may investigate larger ones

Pretty much what I've got coming today. I don't think it'll be rigid though, because the surface of the dash isn't rigid. Hence the consideration to mount something into the substrate.
