If the clutch is slipping when the car is moving would it not slip even more if you were starting from still esp if on a incline.

It's an excellent question ...... but no because of the gearing of the transmission/gear box. If you think about it, it's like a 10 speed or bike with gearing, as you switch up through the gears it takes more force to rotate the rear wheel where you're literally standing on the pedal to make it go around. When you are in the first gears your legs go around very easily, and quickly, it takes very little power/torque to do so. It's why you almost always recognize a slipping transmission in the higher gears.

So garage initially said that the issue was to do with a failed clutch position sensor, but once the technician removed the gearbox yesterday he found the clutch fingers have collapsed. Nightmare! Clutch is only circa 10K miles old!

Consider the virtual pint pulled and ready for you Conaero.

Returned the car to Lancaster Maserati as they had investigated the issue the first time and concluded that it was the bite point! I immediately complained when I got the car back and found that the problem was still there. They're currently dealing with my complaint and completing the work.

We have done a lot or research into this and it appears it could the bearing sticking.

Make sure you get the bearing and the bearing shaft replaced.
