Only thing they are prepared to tell me is thats its mechanical , but not flood damage , so even if its a buuggered engine i still cant understand it , we can buy and engine over here for £3K and £1k to have it fitted complete with a service , im flumoxed , its got ball polished wheels and complete venture shield to the front end , and lowish miles for an 06

like you say Frank the insurance companies do not live in the real world, just some accountant with no interest in cars...

No secrecy Frank , they just cant be bothered , they are just reading the details on the sheet that the car was booked in with, these salvage yards most of which are now owned by copart , are only interested in the commission they are making on the sale , this as a scrapper was never going to be worth much to them in commission terms , maybe a $1000 at most and that will include them picking it up initially so the less they do the easier for them , majority of the money goes back to the insurer

Ok i dont actually mean that but i just dont see the fascination with them.

Plain and simple terms Adam its about rarity and being different and lets face it 20 years ago alfa was , unfortunately recent years have seen alfa curry up to the mass market having lost its way

Loz

Imay be wrong but a mate of mine is in the traffic department of the Sanfranciso PD

He has told me that in some cases siezed (drug dealer etc) cars are disposed of in this way.
