F1 Pump question

Hi, I have had a non start on my 4200 Cambiocorsa recently [ engine didn't turn over and I couldn't hear the F1 pump ]
Then the next day I had a gearbox warning light flash up and it seemed to slur its gearchange for a few changes then went back to normal.
The gear indicator has also flashed a few times when coasting down from 6th gear to neutral approaching traffic lights.
So I'm wondering if I need to replace the pump? My question is, can you keep the hydraulics connected but swap out the motor so you don't need to bleed the F1 hydraulic system afterwards?
I have access to the pump seen here and I have access via the boot opening too but I'm wondering if the motor can be lifted clear without first removing the whole pump assembly?

Any pointers or experiences would be much appreciated!

Julian

Search threads here and on the other place. My cars are 6MT so not an issue I have had to face.

Hi Julian

I belive the pump head / motor only can be changed without disturbing any of the hydraulics and thus no need to bleed the system afterwards.

Pretty sure @conaero gave a brief description on how to do it on one of his posts a couple of months ago. Iirc its essentially you can use the Alfa alternative part if you wish. Unbolt the motor from the new part and just swap the motor unit over with the one on your car.

Yes, relay replaced last week and battery 6 months ago
I only say because I bought a new battery for mine and few months later had funny gear changes and light occasionally on dash, week later battery packed in dead as a door nail

Yes, two remove the motor from the pump apparently, and yes that thread was very helpful to getting me to where I am currently but I did get a bit nervous about the bleeding the pump if its necessary, so I did like the idea of leaving the hydraulics untouched and swapping the motor only
