With a caveat to the effect that not all batteries, or indeed, tenders, are the same in terms of quality and function; I ve had bike batteries on tenders for years without issue !
I also use solar 'top-up"panels. I have quite a few batteries that need caring for, especially during the winter months, but also because some vehicles drain the cells, and this is an affordable solution. It is the only option for people without power.... An isolator switch in conjunction with a solar panel throughout the cold, dark winter months is, I believe, probably all you really need for a battery that is in good condition to start with....

If you had the car parked up outside for periods of 1-2 weeks fairly routinely what would you advise? Disconnect the battery each time? Or just leave as is? Does jumping the battery throw error codes on these? Maybe I should make a solar panelled trickle charger....

The isolator is the way forward here. There have been a few horror stories (from unlucky people IMO) where jumping has caused some serious issues. My personal experience has been that it is fine for a couple of months without a charge but there are many threads from those that have not been.

My car died - just a brief click on pushing the start button. Replaced the battery and all fine this. Mine is always on trickle charger - even if its a few days between drives. Old battery was the original (FIAMM) Maserati battery.

Maseratis eat fuel but also batteries. It's just part of the ownership experience!

However, if particularly bad it could be an old tracker with a dead battery, it the draws off the main battery.
