Given the recent work listed, and its apparent condition, that asking price is remarkably reasonable. It’s rare for early manual examples in top condition to have asking prices in 5 figures. Usually they are £100k plus.

Having had an engine rebuild, underside refresh, and full repaint, the big costs have been taken care of. Now it’s just needs using/enjoying.

Best not to dwell on the subject of mpg.

...all I ever see are automatics. This is...perfect. If not for yourself, Andy, please feel free to buy it for me!

That was my thought on the price given history and apparent condition

Time for some fleet consolidation Andy. Sell a few to make space for the 400. Investment wise, you can’t go wrong with a Daytona V12 engined Ferrari with a manual gearbox. Especially if you buy it at a bargain price in the first place.

Judging by the comments in Classic Car magazine, you should be able to get the price down further. The whole market is softening according to year on year auction results.

For “mass produced” classics such as Jag E Type, Merc SL, Porsche 911, market guides are quite useful. But the stats are less meaningful for the really rare stuff, such as a RHD series 1 manual Ferrari 400. Maybe 1 or 2 of these are sold per year in the U.K., and difference in condition between individual cars makes comparisons tricky. But it shouldn’t be impossible to negotiate something off the asking price, making it even more of a bargain.
