Fulvia

Thanks. I had many Fulvias since the age of 19, and often more than one, for about 18 years. Both 1.3 and 1.6 models, all series 2.

Did lots of stuff with them, including racing a 1.6 for five or six seasons, took the same car to the Nurburgring (it was road legal/road driven) did lots of work to them over the years and more than one restoration etc. Of all the cars I've owned, I've had the most fun in Fulvias.

Then, a break of about 15 years.....Spotted this, and bought it. It was in the US. I did some history research and it seems it was a one owner car until circa 2012.

For those who may not know, it is a Series 1 Fulvia 1.6 HF, the "Fanalone" model. It was effectively the homologation special and that car won many many rallies including the 1972 world championship (or whatever the precise title was).

They made about 1250 of them, many were crashed/rallied/broken for spares and perhaps half of them remain. Of that number, a lot are either used in classic rallying or have been made into "rally replicas", which I didn't really want.

When it arrived, I was pleased. It is amazingly original, no welding anywhere save a pair of sills. Mechanically it was pretty decent but with a number of small jobs suddenly it seemed logical to rebuild the engine and 'box. Quite a long list of minor items and parts and we're more or less there. New screen going in this week and then it'll be back home.

Fantastic as a boy I grew up with Fulvias as my father was involved with the Jolly Club of Milan so I was in and out of them all the time and on events with them which along with many interesting cars my father had around his Garage business gave me my automotive love and why I became a mechanic and still doing it.
Keep the posts coming :)
Phil.

Compared to you I am a mere newcomer to the Fulvia although they have a lot of memories from my youth.

First one I ever saw belonged to a classmates mother back in 1975, it was a dark blue 1.3 with cream interior and it was lovely as was the mother but that's another story. A few years later another friends father was big in the Lancia Motor Club and amongst his other Lancias he had a 1.6 HF which he use to drive flat out everywhere, he once gave me a lift home and I couldn't believe how fast this little car was.

Roll on to later years and a hankering for a Fulvia kept getting stronger, all my Alfa mates were pushing me to get a 105 Coupe but the Fulvia itch wouldn't go away. Price wise the 1.6 HF had got away from me but when a recently imported S2 Montecarlo with period mods. came up I bit the bullet and haven't regretted it since.

Both are good stories. I remember getting the occasional lift to school in a brown Beta Coupe with yellow seats.
I got the car back on Friday after some winter work, looking tidy and mechanically refreshed

Tony does find some great cars and imports them to where ever you need them, that's where mine came from.

That's a strange HF as it doesn't have the HF shell as it has opening front qtr lights by the look of it
