Fun Factor?

I know, before asking, that I'm comparing two rather different things but what is the difference in 'fun factor' between a GS and a Quattroporte? I have been told that the limo responds well to a bit of early morning solo hooliganism. If a GS scores '10' in this respect, where would the Four Door come?

I've been after a GS for some time now, hoping the 'right' colour combo would turn up (who would have thought dark blue was so rare?) and ignoring siren calls from 911s or the idea of getting an M3 again. So far, no joy.

I keep seeing nice-looking QPs but don't know much about them. I do know that I didn't get on with the M5 I had for a while - interstellar on a motorway but a bit barge-like elsewhere. Is the QP the same, relative to the GS? Should I just give up and get a Caterham and an galactic mile Audi schnellwagon?

Keep me righteous friends!

I had a similar dilemma when looking for the Spyder but for a different reason. Mrs Z suggested that a 4 seater saloon would be more appropriate with us having a small family, i.e. it could be used as a family barge should the need arise. I love the QP and was almost convinced but at the end of the day I wanted an open top two seater so decided to go that way. I have no doubt that the QP would have been equally as good on most respects but I think I would have always been saying what if?

I drove Drew's around Brunty and although only one lap I was mightily impressed as to how well it holds and goes; performance is really not far off the 4200 and there is just a slight feeling of a higher centre of gravity but not enough to concern or detract. Maybe these observations would alter with more time or experience but I would say the smile factor was easily equal :)

I don't want to jump the gun but Enzo's dark blue may be available soon and a better example will be hard to find for sale...

You can definitely drive a QP like a hooligan and it's great fun. I've driven several QP variants around two different tracks on Maserati GB days and loved it. So much so that at the end of the first day I bought one on the spot! Just be sure to get a duo-select, not the full auto. But, there's no getting away from the fact that it's a big car.

And you'll need to budget for sports exhaust if you really want to put a grin on your face. I have a Tubi on mine and it sounds incredible.

Think of the QP as a GS for grown-ups.

QP = 10 ........ I loved the ones I've driven...Feel much smaller than they are when you push into a bend......As much fun as a GS ? ..... A big yes from me.

In that case I'll never get one as I don't want to grow up! :)

IMO, the QP is bargey.

I've not driven a GS. Though, I swapped my daily driver 4200 for a QP.

There's a definite difference in the cars. For obvious reasons. The main ones being the extra weight of the QP and inertia. As a driver's car, I'd go for the 42 every time. It is much nimbler, feels - and is - a lot smaller than the QP and it responds far quicker to control inputs.

Saying all that, I believe that the QP is a wonderfully refined ride. Perfectly suited for wafting one about. And, when you want to get a move on, it obliges with consummate ease.

I love it.

I had a 3200GT before my QP GTSport.

I'm coming up to 3 years with the QP now & rate is very highly.

The Sport comes with the raspy exhaust & quicker Gear Change & stiffer suspension in sport mode.

Oh & it handles better than the 3200, Just keep an eye on the tracking to stop it becoming too fussy in a straight line!
