Granturismo purchase

Hi chaps

I've been lurking around the forum for a little while now soaking up some of the excellent advice and info available, so thanks for that.
I'm now in a position to go and get a granturismo. I think for my budget I'd rather get an immaculate condition 4.2 (I like the look of one at Nuvola) rather than the cheapest 4.7, however this one linked below caught my eye and didn't know whether it might be worth a look. It does however appear to be doing 60mph without the keys in the ignition! Any advice greatly appreciated

Hi Matt
Welcome to the forum and congratualtions on 'lurking' on the best Maserati forum.

I think I've seen this car being in another thread and someone asking for the forums opinion, it being black on black on black is ringing a bell. The dial being at 60 mph is a strange one, definitely something to raise and get sorted before buying, it could mean something else is being overlooked. However a 4.7 at 58k miles for £30k isn't a bad price.

I might be wrong but don't the twin tailpipes suggest this is a 4.2 not a 4.7? I thought they all had the single oval ones.

Thought there is an auto Sports parked next to mine at the station this morning and I'm pretty sure it has ovals, did this change with the facelift ?

Granturismo Sports all have oval tail pipes as do 2012MY Auto cars with the optional sport pack.

Thanks for the responses.

I worry with the car linked above that if that dash fault has been neglected then there are probably other faults that have been left as well. I think for my budget getting a A1 condition 4.2 may be the best move

Yes catmanV2 I think that is a scam

Hehehe. Nope I had them fitted. Valved boxes. I was simply trying to make the point that what a car left the factory with is not necessarily what it's wearing now. Rear boxes are trivial (and quite common) to change.

As a rule though on a stock car you can identify a car immediately between a 4.2, a 4.7 Sport and a MC Shift say.

I meant the advert for the car looks like a scam, too cheap and poorly written

At £30-32k you can get into an MC or Auto 4.7 which is what I’d do.
