I'm struggle with that. So surely a 4.2 at 23/25k has less to depreciate than a 4.7 at 35/40k. get the variators but you may be lucky and a clutch in a 4.7 MC is not much less than variators which you don't have in a 4.2. Add cost bales in a 4.7 like brakes which are chunky money wise and mpg which is less surely a 4.7 will cost more to run. Or am I talking ********....I normally do
We are talking about £30k on a 4.7 or a 4.2, we aren’t talking about one at £25k and one at £40k or yes, that’s obviously correct. Mpg is around 18-22 in both depending on driving style, or 12 if you drive like a nutter! Clutch cost, granted, they do around 30-40k miles usually, but they’re about £2500 all in and variators are more like £4000.

Or buy a Quattroporte 4.7 Sport GTS for early £30k’s and have the best and coolest of the lot.....

I think you've probably summed up the issue I've got, the 30k budget is in a bit of no mans land

Another question, if you wouldn't mind throwing your opinions out there. Tan colour interiors, they look a bit orange in photos, do any of you have tan leather? Is it nicer in person than photos?

There are a couple of different tan colours....Cuoio is darker than the normal beige and can look orange. It's one of my favourite interior colours.

Suppose Dicky is basing his comments on warranty claims and agro from 4.2’s and 4.7’s he’s sold?

We’ve had hardly any claims on any Granturismos. I’ve only sold 3 4.2’s but about 50 4.7’s. As I stated in my earlier post, the main factor is depreciation.

so is the MC shift the same 6 speed manual as my 2006 QP Sport GT (no s ) ?
I do like the GT look , fancy a 4.7 but turned off somewhat by the auto box.

A point not mentioned is that the 4.7 Auto, which Matt wants, is a good bit cheaper than the MC Shift. Both 4.2s and 4.7s appear to be dumping around a grand in value a month, based on asking prices this time last year, so good nice miles 4.7 Auto must surely be coming onto the market for £30k any day now.

I know it's an MC Shift but that blue med with blue alcantara GTS that Mr Grace sold last year is on the market privately (for the second time since Richard sold it) for only £32k with 41k miles. That appears to be the pick of the bunch at the moment.

At £32k I think a buyer would be better off with Phil's black 4.7, rather than the blue/blue car.

I have Cuoio in my 4.7 auto. Had it seven years and love it as a contrast to the Blu Oceano outside. It wears well versus colours like Pearl Beige and is much less orange than cameras on flash portray - go and have a look.

For the first three or so years of GranTurismo production there was a darker tan (Cuoio Sella) which might be what you are seeing.

Best of luck with your search. Have you a gearbox preference?

The gentleman did advertise it but did not sell it, he has had it a year. It’s a stunning car with new clutch, had variators done and all sorts of other things. It also has the most stunning interior of any Maserati Granturismo I’ve ever sold. Ridiculously good value at that price!! I have no vested interests in it, I just know how good a car it is.
Regards the depreciation; they stayed so high for so long, and the last couple of years both GT’s and QP’s have lost a good chunk. Common sense says that good examples simply can’t continue to do so at that rate any longer.

I was really thinking about resale, in that blue/blue only appeals to a small number of buyers. As I discovered when selling my QP GTS. Blue interiors seem to put most people off - that white with blue Strad has been for sale for ages. I like it, but I'm in the minority.

I agree most people are put off by pics online, if they make the effort to view the car it is gorgeous. Your QP May have also been a slow sell due to year and mileage, not just interior. Most on here would think Med Blu is the best exterior colour.

Blue Interiors are definitely Marmite. Depends if that blue car has had variators and recent clutch which is worth 6k on the price.
