Hi Chaps,

Got the dreaded "Return to Dealer" fault - and it wont go above 2nd gear - looking around it seems thats a sign of the clutch :(

I;m down in the south west, Wiltshire - where would people recommend to go for checkout and fix, or what should I expect to pay?

Been quoted by oneindy specialist in Kent £3600inc VAT for clutch supply and fit...

Any other independants reccomended?

Cheers
Matt

Try AV Engineering in Kent. Unless they were the specialist.
And then there's Dick Lovatt in Swindon or Emblem on the South Coast, the world is your oyster.

Anywhere £3.6k to £3.9k at dealer for my last quotes that was for clutch, release bearing and fly wheel.

Make sure they have SD software for clutch setup and a rep for actually doing them.

I would second Emblem, but you may have to wait a while as they have only just returned from a summer shutdown.

Hi
We are also in Wiltshire and would previously have recommended FTech :(
We have now been recommended AV Engineering (Kent), Emblem (Poole) and Migliore (Bromsgrove)
Hope that helps.

Get a quote from Myles at Emblem and see if DL will match... you could be waiting a couple of weeks for a slot at Emblem.

I'm new to Maserati ownership so have no real experience to speak of, but I recently booked a service with Migliore in Bromsgrove and got a quote for a clutch change for future reference. Although they said the parts price tends to fluctuate a bit, i was told currently it would be around £2.5k + VAT.. so £3k.

Jesus H christ, £3,600 for a clutch change....

Think I'll remove an MC shift off of the want list..

Its seems a lot but thats the going rate for a high end car costing £100k+...clutch is just 3% of the car.

Emblem!...why travel so far. Mention the forum and you should get a little discount.

You cold also try Meridien in Lynhurst, they do a lower labour rate for older cars.

What mileage did you get to before failure? I am going to guess: 37,408...do I win?

I would expect £2.5-3k is a good price.

Most cars with similar performance and manual type shift will have clutch replacements in the £2.5 to £3.5k range this is not unusual.

Emblem did advise me that in general GranTurismo parts are generally a bit more expensive than the equivalent 4200/GS parts, so although they are newer and less likely to fail when they do they cost more to repair.

£3.6k does sound expensive. I can't remember exactly what I paid for mine but I'm pretty sure it was nothing like that much. Get a couple of quotes from the good indies (already mentioned).

What I can say for sure is that it'll feel like driving a new car afterwards. Properly crisp and smooth and engaging (literally!).

I think the clutch on mine cost (ADG) about £2,800 at Giallo. Lets be honest very few people use theirs as daily mile munchers so in all honesty you will change your clutch only once at best in your ownership.
Wouldn't worry about it too much. Unless you're going drag racing in it.

Make sure they are quoting release bearing as well.
Flywheel recommended buts it’s solid mass I seem to remember and mine was fine last time

Release bearing ain’t too expensive though to be fair

I got 2 dealer quotes and both were north of £3.5k.

No idea on daan saath indies but I can recommend Marios in Manchester after my very recent experience.

Mine needed replacing at around 37k (from memory).

I'd avoid getting a main dealer to do it. There just doesn't seem any point to be spending £200 / hour when a decent indie will do the work for maybe 1/3 of that rate.
